How about the Omega Speedmaster? The character of Kate Beckett on the show "Castle," wears one (in the plot line it's her father's watch) -- my husband has one and gets compliments on it all the time. Someday I'm gonna swipe it and wear it myself!

7,500 too little for the Cartier gold Tank Louis. Those are about 9 now. Not sure how much the Hermes Cape Cod in Gold would be with leather. Pretty but also quartz. JLC is a good choice in the stainless, but those are probably about 9 now, but they have a mechanical movement.
