10 per finger!!! That is quite ambitious (but total 
!!!). Would you size the rings so they are for ring/middle/index or are you going to have a few sized for pinky and thumb rings??? I wish rings were adjustable so you could wear them on any finger at any time. . lol

Honestly, after playing in my mom's jewelry box I can only really foresee personally buying 3 more rings, maybe 4:
- A Leon Mege creation that I have in mind and I think I can make happen this year
- QueenCoco's 5 stone ring
- A huge cushion with good specs (and I'll be able to afford that in 2 lifetimes)
- Resetting my mom's round diamond
Pretty much in that order. And I hope not to inherit my mom's ring for 60 years (but the setting is really awful - I'll post a picture sometime)

Wow I love your aquamarine ring! My mom also has quite a collection of jewelry; I would LOVE it if she would let me pick something, I think that would make a wonderful gift! Happy Birthday!
HAHAAH - I feel the same way about my future mother in law's ring.....the setting is just ghastly!! I have no idea what look they were trying to go for, but if ugly was it, they achieved it! SHE even hates it, and that's saying something!
hehehe nyc_cady - we should do an "ugly jewelry" thread - just like those sites people have for disaster birthday cake! ive also made my mom see the light of day: why have such a terrible setting for such a pretty diamond?? she, too, admits that it gets lost in it.
Thank you darkangel! I actually initiated the conversation because my mom told me she felt so guilty she didn't get me anything (we're never a presents family: christmas, birthdays, nada)
At the end of the day I think she'd rather see me wear it than locked away at a bank. She hasn't worn this out once since she took the diamond out and put this aquamarine stone in. That was over 10 years ago...
Now, just as we're settling in on this aquamarine thing, I started to think about how my mom always wants to get me birthstone jewelry. I personally don't love purple amethyst/have a earrings/necklace set that is enough for me. Literally, 7 years ago Mr. LuBird got me this terribly ugly (ok ok it was my pick) green amethyst trillion ring from ice.com and I've grown to loathe it and the space it takes up in my jewelry box. I just think the setting is atrocious, but the center amethyst itself is fine. What if I put the green amethyst trillion in this setting? Could a good jeweler fix it with the prongs? If not, I'm just going to leave it as is.

Lubird...leave the aquamarine in there. It is so much prettier. Why not make the green amythest into a necklace? I just don't love trillions in rings unless they are small side stones. Plus if you leave the ring as is it will have sentimental value.
...I LOATHE purple too...but my sons birthstone is also amythest and I wanted, for whatever reason, to get a ring or something with both my childrens birthstones....My daughter is a DIAMOND...I planned that one well and have more then enough for her...but he has just the worst stone. (I am a garnet, which is not MUCH better...but red trumps purple anyday!) Anyway, in my searching I came across the rose de france amythest wich is sooo much better and if I can find one in a setting I like I would love to get that.
The green amythest is pretty, but doesn't sparkle too much at all.....I was looking at some at helzburg and even under the jewlers light there was nothing going on. I was hoping I could find one I like as it is a necer color then the purple for sure.

oh, and lu...the 5 stone is a very afordable ring from my jewler. I think maybe you should move that up to #1....Bluenile.com gets some stones from him so he charges a FRACTION of the retail. I think its priced at around $4600. I got it for about half of that

I think the setting you attached looks really cool for the prasiolite. I personally love green amethysts AND I really like trillion cuts.

Kohl - What is Leon Mege by Erica Grace? I'm not sure I know anything about that collaboration. Thank you for the suggestion - that ring looks pretty cool. I may just have to sit on this for another 7 years
QueenCoco- I don't want to lose sight of my Leon project! I need to space things out - one a year! Then again there was the post about the increasing cost of loose diamonds. Could you PM me the specs of your diamonds when you have a chance? No rush...
I've told Kohl this in the past - I sort of want to be patient and wait until the B&M stores are sweating out the summer months and business is slow to go in for some good negotiations. Sadly I have no patience...

Lol. Sorry those were two separate statements. I love Leon Mege as a designer, but I've also been eyeing the new design by Erica Grace (the Gabbie halo). I am a weakling for vintage/estate type designs!
Lubird. . .that ring isn't too bad! At least it looks like an engagement ring and has a lot of bling! My mom's ring (which I have not even seen yet - she never wears it and keeps it in the safe) is in the shape of a STAR!!! I can't imagine what it looks like. . .and why would you get a star as an engagement ring? I'm going to have to go to my mom's safety deposit box one of these days and raid it and perhaps snap a few pics of that ring. I shudder thinking about me inheriting it one day. LOL
