Hi Jewelry Boxers!

Last night I had such a great time raiding my mom's jewelry box. Most things were on the table for my taking (best birthday present ever!) so I went with this aquamarine ring - 18k yellow gold with 6 marquise diamonds on the sides. It was her original setting for her diamond ring, which has since been changed. I can do whatever I want with it, but I actually kind of like it this way for now. It's just funny because I just got an emerald cut diamond, so this is a little close, but I love the setting. The marquises are surprisingly bright and sparkly! Love them!

I love it! its vintagey but still kind of modern? I would wear it as is! I wish my mom had a good jewellery box. I'm usually the one buying her pieces!!! she wasn't into jewellery before I started buying her stuff.

thank you CMM, kgirl<3, Lec8504, Candice & Mindy! It's a treat :)

I remember this setting from ages ago and thought it was really matronly. Of course now I love it! I don't know where/how often I'll wear it but the marquises are really feminine and different from what I'd pick for myself. I'm thrilled to add it to my "fancy jewelry." My mom had a round cut diamond in there so this really is a different look.

In my fine jewelry (non costume) that I pick and buy myself, I go simpler, or basics and name-brands for everyday wear (usually). My mom has zero 'name' jewelry and all this crazy stuff that lives in the safe and safety deposit box. I'm not sure what the point is but I'll be happy to help :)

Candice - You are building a remarkable collection for yourself - I think you'll be impress/surprise yourself in 40 years. My mom amassed everything herself, literally, grew up with zero and she's got an amazing collection. She stopped buying anything in 2002 when her sister's house was burglarized. Yuck. Broke her heart and she stopped buying anything expensive (but you should see the costume jewelry lol). My aunt was the only one in the family with a few family heirlooms (just one ring and a pendant) and it was just gone and they're both still reliving the horror.

I tell Mr. LuBird he's the luckiest guy on the planet. One engagement ring and he's off the jewelry hook for life (Right....)

One more picture, against the cat!

Beautiful Ring! Definately a great B-Day gift!

Hi Jewelry Boxers!

Oh wow, that side view is stunning. I realized I don't like marquise diamonds by themselves, but together or clustered like how they are on your ring. . .it's beautiful!!! It really gives it a very feminine touch as you mentioned. Congrats again and I hope to see more goodies from your mommy's safe LOL

Thank you AntiqueShopper!

Mindy - I went nuts! I looked through everything and took tons of pictures with my cell phone - I'm not a true professional tpf-er. I'm not resting until I have 10 rings in my jewelry box - one for each finger :)

Happy Birthday! I hope you had a good one. Your mom's ring is beautiful and it's the exact type of style feel that I'm looking for to reset my mom's diamond. Btw, thanks for your feedback on my post! :D
