Hello all! I'm just starting my foray into the world of "real" handbags. Until a couple years ago I just carried things from target. Then I got a scaramanga satchel and a couple second hand lucky brand bags. Turns out I have a thing for leather :)
So I've decided it's time to up my game, and I order a dooney flo satchel. I haven't received it yet, but I'm already planning my next purchase :)
What I'm looking for is a smooshy hobo. More in the dooney/coach/Mk price range than anything else. From looking at older stuff I really like the coach Hailey, but they're hard to come by. Anything out there similar? I just want a smoishy soft, simple hobo.
Thanks for your help!

Personally, I love the Kooba Johnnie hobo. It is the smooshiest bag I own. It may be slightly above your desired price point at retail (around $500 retail) , but they are pretty easy to find on sale. They also now have a smaller crossbody version that is really cute and sells for around $300.

Are you in Europe? Both Liebeskind and Fredsbruder brands have lovely soft, squishy leather and an affordable price point. If you want delicious vintage-y leather, look at Campomaggi - a little more expensive, but really lush leather and maybe quite akin to your Scaramanga bag in style. The squishiest hobo I've ever owned was an Hugo Boss lambskin - it was huge and totally flaccid though (...ahem...) and I could never find anything in it, so I offed it. Ah, nostalgia...

- Lips <now humming theme tune to 'littlest hobo'>

+1 for Liebeskind! I have three of their pieces (laptop2, Elina and Milena) and they are smooshiness itself. And if you can get to an outlet, prices start as far down as 120 euro :smile1:

OK. I had never heard of campomaggi. I think this is going to be a problem. That's instant love. Instant. Must have. Perfection. Only I'm in the flipping states and can't afford one anyhow! Ah! I'll start saving my pennies. Maybe I'll get there eventually.

Ooh. I forgot about Frye. I like some of those. I want to like fossil, but none of the current stuff appeals at all. And my current favorite are a lucky brand stash and some lucky brand hobo that I can't remember the name of. It's purple and orange patchwork and beautiful. But I ripped the back of it and haven't gotten it fixed yet.

I think I'm going to make a list of the bags that appeal to me and put it in a jar, then I'll toss any money I can in there whenever I can. And when I have enough I can cash it in and pick something off the list.

Gustto is a brand that was talked about on TPF a lot a few years back. Their bags are very smooshy and unstructured. Not sure if you can still get new ones or if you'd have to look at preloved.
