That is great. I distinctly remember my mother taking me with her to the Coach store when I was about seven. I asked her why we were going and she responded that "quality was more important than quantity." :-)

But I didn't get my first Coach until I saved for my own at 19. I don't mind teaching her about quality, but I DO want her to be old enough to appreciate it.

And that is so funny your daughter sews dust bags. My daughter LOVES to sew!

Well, the thing in daughter's case, is that if she were actually paid for the amount of work she does, she could have saved for them multiple times over already. She's a second degree black-belt, testing for third-degree in a couple months. She's their youngest black belt, yet outranks even her fellow highschool aged students. Besides taking her own classes, she actually helps teach a total of eight classes every week. (It's our home away from home.) They'd love to pay her, but she's legally too young. (Although one of the Shifu's keeps saying that if she ever needs credit for doing vollunteer/community service, he'll sign her off for it.) They literally give her a pack of kids to teach (many older than her), that otherwise they would give to an adult teacher if they had enough adult teachers on the mat at the time. Eight classes a week, even at minimum wage, would have bought her a slew of bags by now. ;) And like I said, she's very good with them. Won't put them on the floor, keeps them neatly in their dustbags, and has another cute little set of shelves for a few wallets. She babies her items just like I baby mine. (Though she does prance in front of the mirror with them, a bit more than I would. ;) )

Wow!! That is impressive! Geez, after reading that, I want to buy her a bag. So sweet the way she takes care of them. She has certainly earned them and them some. You must be very proud.

This is all sorts of win. Good job mom!

I'm a little jealous of you ladies with the handbag loving daughters!
My daughter is 19 and she LIKES handbags and accessories but doesn't LOVE them. I'm always playing stylist trying to get her to accessorize more. She leaves the house with no earrings on and I'm aghast! I said you and I cannot possibly be related to me LOL!

I just know my dd will be a purse fiend too. She's a month old and already has some chanel shopping bags in her closet. When our friends saw that they said they knew I'd train her to be a little fashionista. Oops. But she will have to learn to appreciate her treasures and earn them, just like mommy had to. Lol.

My 9 year old says to me tonight "Mom, can we go to Coach tomorrow so I can get a bag since you won't let me borrow any of yours?" Ugh. :panic:

It is MY habit darn it. LOL.

This made me laugh and smile. My DD also is showing an interest in Coach now. Her recent "not so hinty hint" to me was in a text, with a pic of the small saff black mini satchel. "Since I don't want a big collection, and since this would be my ONLY nice black bag I'd ever get, would you consider getting for me ?"

My first reaction was similar to yours. This is MY thing. Stay away.

Then upon further reflection, I (over?) thought about her explanation. That's how it started with me....taking DH to the outlet where I (as some others also prolly got looped in) HAD to have a siggy bag that announced to the world I had a good Coach bag. (It was a belted Hamptons satchel that's still in my collection.). Back then, I promised DH that tan/brown bag with vachetta trim would satisfy my craving, and would be my ONLY nice Coach bag I'd get (scored this delete , not knowing it was a delete, then, for $147!). Well, I got permission to "blame" him for getting hooked. As we continued to shop, he found TWO gorgeous deletes that where marked down to $191 (my vintage Lindsay Shoppers in espresso and mineral .) Then, I left with the mineral , telling him ONE pastel bag for "pretty" and one siggy bag for "practical" was more than generous. Then (notice all the use of THEN here?!) I couldn't stop thinking about the espresso. But kept reminding DH the red line price was much higher on that, then on the espresso. He drove me to the outlet a few nights later in dreary cold , early March weather and asked an SA how much for the dark brown bag there? (Shockingly, it was still there). It was the SAME PRICE as my mineral and hubby said , We'll take it. Then (another then) the SA came back and told us "shhh, but let me tell you we have another shipment of transfer bags in the back room." Then , I had no clue what that meant and got a brief explanation. Hubby told me, "looks like you need to come back here more often." So, see? It's really his fault. Lol

And meanwhile, I wonder what, how or if this will be your and your DDs "then" story. "Then, it was MY habit...." Look out, mom! Lol

I got my DD hooked on Coach LOL she is an adult though, now I am planning to get my niece hooked. I recently bought a swingpack that I do not really need, I think I am going to give it to her for her next birthday, she is 12, I can't help but getting my whole family hooked on Coach

lol. I am glad that I have 3 boys who don't want my purses, makeup, or clothes/shoes!!
When my son was around 1, he wanted to wear bows in his hair like his sister!

He bought his first wallet a few months ago. I was a little disappointed he didn't want a Coach.

My older daughter has decided she has moved on from Coach. Her latest bag is a MK I got for her. My younger daughter is happy to shop in my collection.

LOL!! My 8 yr old son wants me to buy him a coach wallet and a coach messenger bag, because his minecraft guy has one :D

Ha!! That is so funny. My other daughter LOVES mine craft, but so far she has only asked me an insanely expensive foam sword. I guess I should consider myself lucky.:smile1:
