She can't even freestyle.
Has anyone asked her to? I'd love to see her try & fail like I'm sure she would.
She's like a SNL skit to me. Like a character Kristin Wig or Amy Poehler would be hilarious playing.

I worked with a Texan who definitely rolled her Rs! Actually, she also pronounced the end part of my name which should be said as 'ah' as 'errrrr'. Drove me nuts!

No she doesn't write her lyrics. That was the shade Nicki threw at the BET awards.
This isn't singing. And singing with a lack of accent, something that naturally happens isn't the same as rapping in an accent that's not natural to you. That's called copying/biting/copping/frontin/faking. First off, each geographic area has their own style when it comes to topics in lyrics, rhyming style, annunciation, and flow. Within all of that, you create your own personal style. Why do you think Vanilla Ice got so much crap? He was a guy making money off the culture, while never actually living it. That's the case here. She hasn't lived dirty south, so she can't make money off of it. She's only been in the scene for like 3 years. The reason she sounds like she does is cause she hooked up with T.I. If you listen to her first single (Pu$$y, which was produced with the influence of the Dungeon Family....basically the group that Outkast formed in Atlanta...aka, the south), even that song has a slightly different style. On that record you can hear her slight southern drawl, but it's not as strong and her flow is def more staccato and not as laid back. It's pretty clear that her current style was derived in the past couple of years and created by the people she's working with. To me, that's not a real artist. That's a performer who's manufactured. And if you're cool with that, OK, but when it comes to hip hop, I'm not OK with it.
*edit*
Well crap...seems like I just repeated what everyone else said.
how do you know it was directed at her. To be honest, I've maybe heard a couple of songs from her and whether she is manufactured or not, the songs were good enough for me. I also like some songs by Macklemore, Eminem, Jay-Z. I'm no hip-hip fan though so I don't get the anger about someone not being "hip-hop enough".
generally when you throw shade at someone its submimenal so that the person it is being thrown at will always be left wondering if it is meant for them and if they are wondering that then thats admitting guilt basically and to answer the questionhow do you know it was directed at her. Of course it's not that serious to you, and that's my point. She is a fad. Her fan base is made up of people who want to play "ghetto." Everybody else sees a fraud.I said some British singers sing with an American accent.
it's also not that serious
Your example actually proves my point. Iggy has never lived in America or in the neighborhoods where one acquires such an accent which makes it even more disingenuous.
eta: She should always wear her hair down. It's way more flattering.
