If you had some extra money, would you spend it on bags or ️jewelry?

I'd go with bags (although right now I'd take the money and put it towards a future house downpayment, ha). I don't wear any jewelry ever besides my wedding band and engagement ring, and even those were cheap and free when I first got them. If I bought pricey jewelry it would just gather dust in a box somewhere, while all my bags are used frequently. If you love jewelry and bags equally it would be a tougher choice, obviously!

I love 18k gold jewelry but I don't need a vast collection to feel like I've got that covered. Rings and necklaces are the best for me to even pretend I might not lose them within a few years. (Bracelets and earrings often get disconnected from my body unawares and lost.) I don't usually lose my purse.
Then again I'm not one for more than a dozen nice handbags, one for each month of the year, as thirty days a month is plenty quality time- but not so much as to wear it out in under a decade.
i have a right hand ring, a large yellow diamond I bought myself and it is the most expensive thing I own and certainly the most 'me' piece of unique (as in one of a kind, designer) jewelry that I have ever seen so I knew I just had to have it. My heart soars every time I look at it. If I put it away for awhile and take it back out some days or weeks later, my heart skips a beat when I see it again. My wedding set is fine, I chose it, no complaints but it is somehow less comfortable so I sometimes take one off to let my finger have a break and recover. I need to have a jeweler fix it but I've been pregnant/postpartum nearly the whole time since I got married two years ago so I just figured I would wait until I've lost all the weight and then see if it needs adjustments.

I'm off topic. I think you need a set of gold jewelry that is 'you' even if that's just one thing, like a necklace or a ring ----unless you are not at all a jewelry person. I also think you need a bag collection that makes you thrilled. That could be three bags or 30, depending on what makes sense for your bag rotation philosophy.

I also think that your wardrobe should be organized in such a way as to really maximize your enjoyment within your budget with forethought and awareness of what looks great on you and what you feel your best in.

Style is fun, building your collections is fun, don't settle for 'whatever' unless you absolutely have to and enjoy the process!

Great post. While reading what you said about your yellow diamond ring, I realized I feel the same about my two chanel bags. I my have a necklace that is more pricey but I love those two bags to death and feel like I walk on clouds when I use them. While I love necklaces, if I have the extra money I now I'd buy a classis chanel. Later I might consider jewelry if I fall in love with a specific piece...and if I have the extra money!

Unfortunately, at this time I have to wait for luxury goods to come in the thrift store. I shop at a Goodwill outlet where you pay per pound. I have found tons of jewelry 14 kt, 18 kt gold and .925: necklaces, pendants, bracelets and rings for only $1.50 a piece. I have only been going for about a year and have accrued a small estate of fine jewelry that I would estimate to be $2,000-$5000 dollars. The handbags I have found in there and have kept are Louis Vuitton and Michael Kors so again I have paid a little over $2 a piece and they retail about $2000. If you don't believe me and want to see pictures you can look at my posts on the Secondhand Bargains thread here on the purseforum.

Before, I started thrifting regularly I would love to shop for handbags.

I'd vote jewellery. Especially 24k gold pieces. I was always taught by my grandmother that in times of trouble where paper money and coins would be worth nothing, gold was the main currency that was used for trade to save ones life. I don't think handing over piles of Birkins would really do anything, right?

Bags! I tend to wear my "fun" jewelry rather than my good stuff. It drives my mother nuts. I have much more expensive watches but my favourite is my oversized Timex.

Before, I'd pick bags. Now, I'd pick jewelry. Part of this is that I have a nice collection of bags now. Part of it is also lack of closet space. But now I think it's best to get a few quality pieces that you wear forever.

The only jewelry I wear is my engagement ring and wedding band. I only own one Tiffany bracelet and a pair of small diamond studs, and it's rare that I even wear those lol..that being said, Any extra money would be spent on bags [emoji4]

Ok this might not be completely new and a little silly, but I was recently overseas visiting my family. I have lived for many years in the US now. I have a range of bags from no name to chanel and can't wait to buy more. The thing is when I went back home I saw the ladies in my family/friend circle wear their gold jewelry depending of course on their income. That is when a little voice in my head started saying," if you have the extra money spend it on ️jewelry". But I absolutely love my bags too. The few pieces of jewelry that I have don't get much wear in my current lifestyle here in the US and like I said, I love my bags to death. But there is this little voice in my head that tells me it is a better "investment" to buy jewelry instead for the long run. Any ideas ?
I'd still buy bags over jewelry cos bags are more useful and practical, unless watches are included then that's a toss up.

Fortunately I am not into gold or diamonds....
I only wear silver jewels.
If I had lots of money, I would buy tons of bags and no jewels though I love watches...:hrmm:

I'm the opposite. I have a few pieces of jewelry but building my luxury bag collection. But I think it is best to spend money on what completes your style. It is a waste of money to buy anything that just sits there. The few jewelry pieces that I have are very sentimental to me, and if I sell them my mom would kill me. I need to find a way to use them.
