I love 18k gold jewelry but I don't need a vast collection to feel like I've got that covered. Rings and necklaces are the best for me to even pretend I might not lose them within a few years. (Bracelets and earrings often get disconnected from my body unawares and lost.) I don't usually lose my purse.
Then again I'm not one for more than a dozen nice handbags, one for each month of the year, as thirty days a month is plenty quality time- but not so much as to wear it out in under a decade.
i have a right hand ring, a large yellow diamond I bought myself and it is the most expensive thing I own and certainly the most 'me' piece of unique (as in one of a kind, designer) jewelry that I have ever seen so I knew I just had to have it. My heart soars every time I look at it. If I put it away for awhile and take it back out some days or weeks later, my heart skips a beat when I see it again. My wedding set is fine, I chose it, no complaints but it is somehow less comfortable so I sometimes take one off to let my finger have a break and recover. I need to have a jeweler fix it but I've been pregnant/postpartum nearly the whole time since I got married two years ago so I just figured I would wait until I've lost all the weight and then see if it needs adjustments.
I'm off topic. I think you need a set of gold jewelry that is 'you' even if that's just one thing, like a necklace or a ring ----unless you are not at all a jewelry person. I also think you need a bag collection that makes you thrilled. That could be three bags or 30, depending on what makes sense for your bag rotation philosophy.
I also think that your wardrobe should be organized in such a way as to really maximize your enjoyment within your budget with forethought and awareness of what looks great on you and what you feel your best in.
Style is fun, building your collections is fun, don't settle for 'whatever' unless you absolutely have to and enjoy the process!
