If you could only have 1 20-motif, what would you choose?

As the question states - I can't see myself buying more than one Alhambra necklace because they're really expensive and I tend to prefer unbranded jewellery, but I have considered getting an Alhambra for a milestone I have coming up! I have some time to think about it but I don't live near a store so I wanted to crowdsource some ideas. I would want to eventually get matching earrings, likely the 3-motif, in whichever stone I go with - the reason being, I would likely wear the necklace with my regular studs on a daily basis, but would wear it with the 3-motif on special occasions (and therefore the single motif, even in the magic size, is out).

I'm indifferent to which gold it is, and I'm basically open to any stone, except diamond, because... budget

Also would love if you could weigh in on my plan to get the matching 3-motifs - good idea or not? If you own both pieces, would you mind posting a pic so I can see what they look like together?

Thank you!!

congratulations on your milestone event. A twenty sounds like a fabulous way to celebrate

i think GMOP is really nice if you don’t want hammered gold.if you want sparkle, WG hammered is nice too.
I think there was a twenty that was a mix of onyx and gmop, but I’m not sure. Personally, I think matching
three motifs with a twenty might be a lot, and you should try it on. . . but I’m not a matchy person and I’m short.
So I only have a six motif magic necklace. Hope @BigAkoya chimes in. . .

What fun decision to make. I would recommend a stone option definitely over all metal. The YG mop is classic and you can’t go wrong. My favorite stone gmop has to be mto in 20 and that markup is around 25k. The TE is beautiful as well but not sure how versatile it is. 3 motif earrings would be a bit much with a 20 for me. Have you tried on a 20 to determine how it lays?

Personally with that many motifs I prefer an alternating one because I feel like it looks too much with just one stone.
I think you also need to decide if you want a neutral like mop or a pop of color.
If you can, try them on because the colors you prefer might surprise you.
Like @880 I'm short so the 20 doesn't look good on me , I have a six motif as well ( though mine is the carnelian tiger eye).

GMOP also sounds like a great idea! I’m short too, and kind of petite. That was my concern with the 3 motif and 20 - I won’t buy them without trying it on of course, but trying it on would necessitate a trip overseas!

Oh - if the GMOP isn’t available in 20 without the MTO premium that’s out of the question for me - my budget wouldn’t stretch that far!

That seems to be 2 votes for YG/MOP - I have never seen tiger’s eye in person though. I tend to wear all colours, so anything that goes with a decent chunk of my clothes would be perfect. That seems to indicate MOP or Onyx, but brown is also a neutral…

I have never tried on a 20, because it was never on my radar! This is just a thought I had recently so I’m in research mode currently. Of course before buying I would try them on first :D

An alternating 20 is a great idea, but I thought they only did alternating with pave, which is totally out of budget 🙈

I think I want something that goes with a bunch of my wardrobe. I wear all colours so I guess even a “pop” would go with a lot of things. But a neutral seems easier to match.

I’m short too and I’ve never tried it on. Is there a thread of shorter women modelling their 20s? I only found an old one and I thought the length seemed fine but if there’s a newer thread like this I’d love to see.

Wait- you’re short, then I would definitely try on the 20. I am short and do not like the 20 on me at all, and doubled doesn’t sit nicely on me. The 10 motif is a great piece and you can get it extended a bit if you want it longer, but I even hooked on a 5-motif bracelet with my 10 and the 15-motif length also didn’t look good on me. It was nice to know that the 10 is the best length on me. There are plenty of people here that love the 20, including @BigAkoya.

I’ve seen the 20 on taller women and on men, and it is stunning.

Good luck and just wait til you’re near a boutique and try it on, bc I don’t know if you’d love the 20.

If you are short, have you thought of the six motif magic? Bc you can dress it down by tucking the dangling motifs inside a neckline, or dress it up by wearing the entire necklace open on bare skin. ..just a thought

I never considered the 6 motif magic because it seems too short for me, based off of the measurements online. I don’t want a short necklace close to the neck. The 20 motif seems to be around 34inches according to the website, which should be a nice length for me.

I’ll definitely try before I buy! I feel like the 10 motif seems a bit short and close to the neck - I wanted something that could be worn long.

Is there a thread with modelling photos of 20s? Especially on short/petite women??
This is what my SA sent me. It's not my pic. However, you might get an idea how it looks like.

Every time I tried on 20 motif, I got some doubts. I think it's not for me. I am leaning towards 10 motif, I have heard that they can extend the length a little bit for you for the 10 motif.

Thank you for the pic!! I have a bigger chest than the SA so I think the necklace would sit a bit higher up on me. I just had the idea to cut a piece of ribbon and drape it on my body to see what a ~33-34inch necklace would look like! Unfortunately I have to travel internationally to try VCA so I’ll have to try and buy at the same time. That’s why all the research preemptively :D

Yes, bigger chest does have some difficulties in styling in terms of fashion and accessories. That's why it seems that 6 motif magic suits you because you can wear it with a deep V neckline to show off your physical assets.

Anyway, it's better to try that in person in order to decide. Good luck! Hope that they have the stock for you by the time you arrive.

So the 33-34in ribbon around my neck is the perfect length - it hits me just below the bust. I think it's because despite being short (I'm 5'3") I have a long-ish torso and a larger bust. That also means that doubled it'll work well as a short necklace too. I have a lot of necklaces and pendants that are at a drop of 14.5-18" so I wanted something much longer that would drape over the body. But I'll definitely try it on in person before I buy it.
