If you could only choose one: Chanel vs Hermes

I have the same problem, and have finally (after too many mistakes) figured out that there's a disconnect between my actual life and my imaginary life.
In my imaginary life I go out to lots of restaurants, concerts etc. (my "Chanel" life) and still work in the city. In my actual life I work from home and am very casual. So I use my Chanel bags only occasionally (even though I love them), whereas my H. (bolide, jypsiere and lindy 26) fit my life better.
You've now all convinced me to add an Evelyne to my collection at some point.

IMHO you will get much more use out of the Evelyne (in either color) and if you are still wishing for the Boy down the road, add it later

That said, I suggest reading the Hermès color regrets thread b/c apparently a lot of people have regretting buying the étoupe, as it didn't work with their skin tone or wardrobe.

You are so sweet! I TOTALLY agree with you about the 'imaginary life' - I too imagine myself going out on fancy dinners, business meetings, watching Broadway shows and so on...but in real life, I'm a stay-home-mom with 5 and 3 year olds....too busy to even wear make up everyday T.T I think your comment served me as an eye opener! Lol :-) - now, Evelyne will DEFINITELY be my first choice. No wonder I'm constantly going through a cycle of buying/selling dilemma. No more imaginary life *wink* thanks

I think if my kids were littler I would go with the Evelyne. I was just in this same dilemma and went the other way. I was all set to get the Evelyne but changed my mind and went with the Boy. I liked how versatile it is and how I can wear it with a cute jeans outfit but also dress it up. I definitely couldn't do that with the Evie. Evie is still on my list though as it's an awesome casual bag. Good luck with your color choice. Gold is a great color too!

If you go with your gut I'm sure you will make the right choice :-). I should have also said (besides fixing my typos... now it's too late) that I have a small Boy in black and I love it but the chain is heavy so that might also be a factor in choosing your everyday bag vs something more special occasion. Plz share pics when you get your bag and ENJOY!!
