Of course, my practical side comes out with this question. As much as I love my Hermes bags, some of them are too delicate to be out in the rain, or they are too heavy or small etc for everyday use etc.
Therefore, I would pick my LV Marylebone. It's a great tote, can be shoulder or hand carried, fits a lot, can be used for work, travel or casual errands and is rain resistant. Ultimate practical bag

Yes, I agree with LV Marylebone. I just bought the pm size and love it. It will be more durable than my Balenciaga day bag and good for using in the rain. The size is good without feeling bulky.
A very interesting read...I'm trying to hone my collection down to just a few use anytime/anywhere bags. As others have said, don't think one alone is practical...always will need a clutch or evening bag 
But for a day-to-day workhorse, my Rebecca Minkoff is filling all the bills with being versatile, but enough for my iPad, multiple ways to carry, easy access inside, durable leather. But now I want one like this a bit classier!

Lv neverfull . I always go back to it as it holds so much and it's easy to get my wallet out and throw basic groceries in it

Sorry for the late reply, but yes, I do carry my chanel briefcase as an everyday bag
I just love the shape of briefcases, and briefcases can also be very versatile based on how you style them
I have to say my Chanel /caviar /large SHW......so classic goes with everything , and I can wear day or night .
