I think they look more like closer to 3/4 ct (1.5 ctw) to me. Mine are 2ctw and this doesn't look THAT much smaller - like half the size. My guess is 3/4 ct each and I do NOT think a jeweler would be offended in the least. If he/she is, find another jeweler pronto.

Id go I/J and about SI1 for these. There's no reason at all IMO to go E/VVS for studs.
I have been thinking about the "gorgeous pair" (VVS1, colour E) and came to the conclusion: this pair waits for a men which a very very guilty consciene, who needs to convince a woman that she should not break up.

I found this chart helpful. Just make sure that when you print, you set the page scaling to "None."

Hi!

it's me again, the tpf-member who has mainly Swarovski in her treasure box :-)

I try to figure out, which tw would look best on my ears, I don't want to upgrade every 2 or 3 years. I know that studs tend to become bigger over the years. I am around 40. I like the size of these hearts and would go for round diamonds. What do you think, what would be the two round diamonds, similar to the size of these hearts? More than 1.2 carat tw?

I did my best to show you as much as I can, including a ruler (in cm, not inches!)

I planned on buying 0.5/0.6 tw first, but I feel that I could wear bigger stones, even when taking into consideration that I wear them mostly at work, since I spend most if my evenings on my couch or running in the streets. :D
It's a nice size for everyday, no?!

TYIA!

PS: don't you agree - the brightness of Swarovski crystals is amazing. the photo was taken with the webcam, no flash.

I second going for lower color and clarity. Studs are definitely not "hand grabber" material.

Remember, with the way most people put on their studs (thumb over the top/table of the stone), you immediately fingerprint them and thus lose several clarity grades immediately! It gets even worse when people never take out the studs and shower and everything with them (soap buildup, oil, hairspray...it can get pretty cloudy).

An SI clarity should be more than enough with a great cut...color varies, and some people like the warmer tones, but I would usually not recommend something as dark as a K unless you like tint...H-I usually gives you a nice look. Just remember that grading reports are just glorified opinions...trust your eyes and what looks best on your ears to you.

Lastly: Be sure to have fun with it...jewelry buying shouldn't be a chore.
