I wear a .85ct custom sliding bezel necklace as my everyday necklace. It was made by David Klass Jewelry in LA, who are very reputable and reasonably priced. Mine is 18” long with stations at 16” and 17”, which helps with layering or changing up the look. By itself for everyday I usually wear it at 16” and for more formal looks, I tend wear it at 18”. It does a good job of staying centered and not flipping. I researched extensively on fixed vs. sliding bezel and found that the general consensus is sliding stays centered better than fixed. Good luck with your project!
Yes, true. Sliding stays centered but the clasp tends to spin down towards the front. My diamond used to be set just like yours in a bezel setting and I was constantly having to adjust it. The diamond also didn’t pop as well in the bezel.

I wonder if it would stop the clasp spinning if the necklace is hooked on the shorter length (say the 16” or 17” circle) with the extra chain hanging down like a tail? Perhaps that extra pull in the back will keep the clasp where it belongs.

Maybe it was just me but that didn’t make a difference. Then the whole clasp and extra chain would slide down to the front. I also had the 16 to 18 adjustable chain. Now I just have 18.

I love your setting and the idea of having ‘stations’ at 16” and 17” is brilliant! Could you please post a photo of the clasp and the stations? Thank you!

Sure thing! Originally I had it made with only one station at 16”, but once I had it in hand and tried to layer it, I decided I needed a station at 17”. So I sent it back to DKJ and they added another station at no charge. HTH

Sorry you had those issues with your prior setting. I have some necklaces that do the (diamond by the yard, etc.) and it drives me crazy. The clasp on this one pretty much stays put. If I sleep in it, it may move to the front. Or it will sometimes move an inch or two off center on the back of my neck during normal daily wear, but rarely to the side or front where it’s visibleonce I center it, it pretty much stays put. Perhaps it depends on the chain style or weight of the pendant.

I’m probably in a minority here, but I have never felt comfortable wearing real diamond studs. I would NEVER buy knockoff handbags or wear fake/ knockoff jewelry on my hands or around my neck but my diamond studs have been for years (like 30+ years) CZ set in 14k gold. What can I say???

I am right there with you. There are a few people who are enjoying my diamond studs right now because I have lost so many, LOL.

I love the look of a single diamond on a chain. It is something that you can wear all the time, and I think the 1 ct. is the perfect size. I don't have any suggestions as far as a setting, but I like simple. It does need to be set in either white gold or platinum, in my opinion. Rather than a dedicated chain, I would prefer it to have a bale so that you can wear it on different length chains when you want to.

Your pendant style is the perfect example for using a "jump" ring! If you have an exsisting chain 18", 20", 22" any (good) jeweler can add a jump ring on your own chain to make it smaller. Cheaper than buying a new chain and you get to keep the original chain. Easy!
I will totally take your advice. There’s a few jewelers in my area. Going to make a visit and see which can add a jump ring. Will let you know what happens  :hugs:
