Hokaplan: this is the thread (http://forum.purseblog.com/the-jewelry-box/please-help-me-pick-out-my-first-cartier-296004.html) that i did when i was torn between the cartier Roadster, 2-tone tank and 2-tone Santo demoiselle. I've been thinking about it since the day i got my roadster.
P.S. no i didn't get the LV bag, i've decided to save my purse money for Cartier. There must be some Sacrifices:sweatdrop::push:.

Glamourette: I'll try to take a pic of my J12 and Roadster for you ;) IMHO, J12 and Pasha are a bit similar in terms of the round face and size. If you were gonna get a J12 and a Cartier, get the Roadster or Tank~

I think you should get what you like, parents tastes are different from yours. Unless of course parents are paying...The J12 is very attractive and young...the Cartiers and Rolex are more sophisticated.

Thank you so much Q~ I love your watches! I *think* I made my decision. After seeing them next to each other, for now my heart is beating faster for the J12. I should get the J12 now and the Cartier later. No matter what everybody say. But I got a good offer for the Roadster, but not for the J12... Again, thanks for posting this Pics Q~ This was a really good help.

The J12 is a fab watch.....but you see, there are watch snobs who will only buy a Rolex or Patek Philippe, for example. They even look down their noses at a Cartier Tank Francaise. In a sense, they are right. If you are making your first purchase, it is better to get a more classic design. The J12 is a watch that you get after purchasing that classic. You will have other watches, I am sure, but while I think a J12 is great, I know it isn't suitable for all ocasions. If you already have a classic watch, then it's a no-brainer, you get whatever you like. You could always consider a compromise of a sort, if you don't have the classic watch, but still want the J12. The Pasha and the Roadster are also great and I wish I had the decision of choosing between the two!

Although personally, I agree with your parents, just get the J12. You can always sell it later when you're tired of it and then get a Cartier. You're 22! Come'on! get what will make YOU happy!

If the J12 is your love, you should go for it.

Cartier also builds some great pieces for ladies, I like the Tank, but you seem to look for something larger. In this case the Pascha would come to my mind. And last but not least, a Rolex is always a right choice when it comes to watches.

I'd avoid Breitling, not worth the money IMHO.

Thanks to everyone who helped me, I made my decision. I'll buy the J12... Now I need some color advice. What would you choose? White was my first love, then I liked the black more. After that I had a white period again. I have more light colored clothes and white would go better with it. But maybe after some time you can't see this color anymore and black seems to be more steady. YWIM?

^ are you able to go to a store and try them on?

I thought I wanted the white - then when I tried it on it didn't look right against my pale skin; I bought the black and love it.

When I think of Chanel, the first color comes into my mind is black. :) I am sure the diamond markers will stand out more on black too. Your parents are probably more open to black than white - my mother was not a fashion watch lover but she had to admit she liked the black one.

But I agree the final decision should be made depending on how it looks on your wrist.

For me, when think of Chanel J12, the first thing comes to mind is WHITE for sure!! White is definitely an attention catcher IMHO:heart: However, I'm the type of person gets tired of things easily, so after having the white for a little over a year, i'm itching for a BLACK, with diamonds of course:graucho:. My BF loves the white though, its very feminine and pretty!!
