I have a 1.17ct round stone, what side baguettes should I go for?

I love that tiffany ribbon!! I have a 1.51ct stone that I'm also thinking of resetting. Please let me know if u know where to get the "tiffany" ribbon setting thanks!!!

if you are trying to avoid a style that looks like it would be an eng. ring, the ribbon ring is the closest to me that could pass more as a RHR than just an eng. ring.

I love the tiffany ribbon ring and also the idea of side pears, but the pears need to be a little bigger than the ones in that earlier photo to make it look like a 3-stone RH ring.

I like options 1 and 2 that you presented. The ribbon style and the pears on each side. The ribbon would look more like a RHR, I agree.

Perhaps, you could choose a style with a bit wider band. That way it wouldn't look like an e-ring waiting for a band to go next to it. My e-ring has a fairly large stone so the band is wider than most e-rings. I don't put a band next to it since it would detract. It would make a good right hand ring though if I ever wanted to move it.

Do you still have the original setting that his grandmother's stone came from? You mentioned you'd already had it reset as a pendant. Why not just put it back the way it was?

It was a HUGE vintage platinum setting. It was like a little building. Not dainty at all.

You can always have the 1.17 be a center stone and surround it with Sapphires or Emeralds or any other gemstone. It would make it look like a coctail ring.
