I have a 1.17ct round stone, what side baguettes should I go for?

Hi Ladies,

I have my husband's grandma's 1.17ct I/J color engagement stone and would like it reset into a 3-stone ring. I currently have it in a pendant but I just don't wear necklaces at all and seems like this beauty is just sitting in my jewelry box.

My husband doesn't want me to reset it saying that it'll look too much like an e-ring, but I don't see it that way.

I can size it for my ring hand ring finger and I would wear my wedding ring on my wedding ring finger. IS this weird? Or should I just size it for my wedding ring finger and switch it up with my ering on days I feel like it?

Also, what size baguettes should I chose for a 1.17 stone and what color baguettes as the main is I/J?

If my husband didn't want me to reset a piece of his family jewelry to look like an e-ring (even just to him) I wouldn't do it. I would respect his opinion on this one. Showing him respect would be more important to me than pretty jewelry.
JMHO.

Actually I had it reset into a pendant and now I kinda of regret it because I just don't wear necklaces unless its more fashion/statement pieces.

the baguettes really do make this look like an e-ring. Have you considered rounds or a halo?
I'd choose EXCELLENT/IDEAL cut I color.

My e-ring is already a halo so I'm stumped to what I should do with this 1.17 stone.

Not a big fan of round side stones because I'm worried that the stones will clash too much, you see the 1.17 stone is a transitional cut diamond so it's got larger antique facets, that's why I thought baguettes will go better with it.

hmmm..what to do.

Is it WRONG to have it look like an e-ring?

I think only you know whether or not you'd wear it more. If you would after a reset, I would think your husband would be happy since it's not just sitting in a jewelry box.

I don't see anything wrong with having it be a '2nd e-ring' so-to-speak.

I don't really think of a solitaire with baguettes as a three stone ring. I think of it as more of a solitaire with sidestones, which people will think is an e-ring. I have a classic three stone (2:1 proportion) and for better or worse, people ask me all the time if it is my e-ring (I guess three stones don't look as such...).

To make it look more like a cocktail/RHR, I would either add pear, trillion, or Marquise cut diamonds/sapphires. Baguettes are supposed to keep in line with the band, but a different shape will make the ring look less like a solitaire.

I honestly would either buy another round stone and turn them into diamond stud earrings or for a ring I would put two 0.5 carat side round diamonds next to it.

What about doing a three stone ring w/ pear side stones that are a colored gemstone? Like sapphire, ruby, etc. I love tsavorite garnet and it is so much prettier than emerald (IMO) if you like green. Or any color sapphire would work and that is durable.

From a quick google search:

With or w/o a halo:

Princess side stones, maybe? Or you could do trillion cut stones:

Finally, what about a bezel setting? Really clean, modern and you could do a wider band w/ scattered stones inset into the band. That would be custom though, b/c I don't think that is something I've ever seen offhand. It would be pretty though!

^^^ I can't though, my stone is a transitional cut diamond and that means I would have to source another transitional cut which isn't an option.

My stone looks identical this this stone.

if you are going to turn it into a ring i totally agree with Lola - go for one round on both sides approx .5ct, similar/the same clarity and colour as the 1.17 - either alternate it with your e-ring or wear it on your opposite hand. It will be a classic beauty! :)

---->>>> why dont you set it as it is in the photo and wear it as an alternate e-ring? it looks beautiful. you have so many options.

OK - you guys really opened up my eyes. Hubby said I can do it as long as it's a good mix between "every day ring" / classic (e-ring like).

What do you guys think off.....

Tiffany Ribbon Ring - yes it's a typical Tiffany E-ring, but it's not a typical e-ring look. This style is cool and not too "out there". I think its a "cool" ring, but not a "forever" kind of look which I think is OK in this case?

Pear Side stones....in diamond only. I'm not a fan of gemstones + diamonds for rings. Would this be too blingy?

What I initially wanted....like a "classic" back up that's not too blingy full of pave diamonds like my e-ring. Super simple and classic...
