Hi everyone, thanks in advance for any helpful responses!

I have the Jet Set tote (attached a picture for reference) in navy/gold saffiano leather, which unfortunately incurred a hostile take down yesterday. Turnip greens were accidentally spilled on and inside it at a restaurant yesterday. It has a pretty big stain down the side towards the seam now that water would not remove.

Given that I'm fairly new to MK, my question is: Is there anyone at MK that I can contact to perhaps repair the damage? (Some of you may remember Diego that always did Marc Jacobs repairs - does MK offer any service like that?)

If I can't contact the manufacturer, do you have any at-home suggestions I may be able to try without further damaging my bag? Is it absolutely too late since it happened yesterday? I'm just sick over the damage since it is really noticeable even though the purse is a dark color.

Post a pic.

What happened?? Did the bag stain?? The Saffiano leather is really sturdy and you can basically wipe off any marks. I have the apple color and when I see marks I just wipe it off with water/paper towel. Maybe post a pic of what the bag looks like now?? Maybe someone can give you some advice?

Oops, sorry about not attaching actual pictures. They should be attached now, although for some reason, my camera isn't picking up the stains that well. I tried with the flash on and near a window, but they aren't showing as prominently as seeing it in person/outside. The stains, or drippings are just showing at the bottom, when it actually looks like several inches across of drippings from the top to the bottom.

The bottom pic gives the best idea - the stains look like the 3 claw mark looking stains towards the bottom, except they go the height of the bag.

Sandyclaws, I had my bag in the chair beside me, and when the greens were placed on the table, they sloshed over and into/down my bag. It was an honest mistake, but it still sucks. I tried wiping it off immediately with water, and later dabbed it lightly with diluted soap. I'm thinking that because it's oily or animal fat or whatever is used to cook that, that it's going to repel any attempts to remove the stains with water, but I don't know.

I don't know about a repair place, but either non-alcoholic baby wipes or a leather cleaner may do the trick. For the inside, you can try a Tide pen or Shout wipes, but test it on a non-visible spot to make sure it doesn't leave a spot.

I'm just brainstorming but when I have a greasy stain I use powder. Baby powder, talcum powder. It will usually absorbs grease. When I first read your post and you said it wouldn't come out, I immediately thought, GREASE, gotta be a greasy stain. Maybe lay it down? And pack on the powder using a piece of plastic taped over it in a square. Use scotch tape NOT duct tape. Ugghhhh........ I really hate to see you destroy the bag with my hairbrained idea.....if it seems crazy-just ignore me LOL!!! After 23 years of hubby, kids and dogs, I have had my fair share of stains and trying and sometimes suceeding in removing them.

You're on the right track baglady, but I would go with baking soda instead of baby powder. Baking soda absorbs even better than powders and doesn't have any scents or other chemicals.

Shoe makers are very handy with handbag repairs. They are also more reasonable and much faster, than sending it to Michael Kors. Try calling around to shoe makers in your area to see if they do handbags. I find them to do a really good job. What a thing to happen! It's always something, isn't it??

Looking at the photos, it appears some of the color came off? Am I seeing that right? Yes, I highly recommend shoe repair stores. Many of them are wonderful with handbags as well, after all, it the same materials and they have some great products to fix it for you. They deal with leather all the time and many of them actually advertise to fix designer bags. They are very reasonable in pricing, too, depending on the repair, of course, and they will tell you if it can be fixed or not. Good Luck to you! Hope you can get it fixed.

Thanks so much ladies! So with the baking soda, do I just pack that on and dab it off?

CinthiaZ - thankfully no, the color didn't come off. I believe that was a reflection from either the flash of my phone or me trying to stand by the window to get the picture. WHEW!

I'll try the shoe place next; I didn't even think about that.

That depends if it is an oil stain or not. If it is just vegetables, and since most are steamed, I don't think there would be any oil involved, right? so just forget about that. I really think your best bet is to hit your local show repair store. They do amazing jobs on repairing handbags as well, but call around first, because not all of them do handbags, but many do. Good Luck! Let us know how it comes out.

I agree, a shoe cobbler might be your best bet. See what they say. I forgot to add baking soda along with the other powders. I have used it a million times for stain removal. Told ya menopause is a B. Have brainfarts everyday LOL!!

Been there and don't want to go back! lol! But I still have the brain farts, just no excuse except maybe 'old timers' ?? lol!

It may be an oil stain. A lot of people/ restaurants add oil to greens. Even smoked meats which would produce oils. So, yes, the baking soda may help........ :)
Tauketula, you CANNOT have greens without smoked something or greasy meat LOL!!! I told my mom that we have to stop cooking them that way because we are getting older and eating healthy is the way to go and she looked like she wanted to SLAP me into next week!! It took me forever to get her to stop using fatback/jowl bacon. She drew the line at smoked turkey wings LOL!! Her greens are to die for, literally-
