I am so sad

Why not just cut the handles off completely and use the shoulder strap only. At least that way you can some more mileage out of it.

If you prefer not to cut the handles off and it has sentimental value, I'd give it a good cleaning inside and out, then condition it, stuff it and put it in it's dust bag in the top of the closet. Then you can take it out and look at it when you want to be nostalgic. :smile1:

Will take it to a Coach store over the weekend and see what they say. I never wore the bag with the long strap, so never thought of it! If Coach cannot/will not fix it, then i prefer your idea of using the longer strap and see how that works for me!

Find a good cobbler and take it in for an estimate; he may be able to help but you can decide if you want to try and repair it or not - and perhaps strengthen the other loops too. Sorry about your favorite bag. My putty Sophia has been in the closet all winter, I'd better take a look at her!

Will take it to Coach this weekend, if they cannot do anything, then i might just use the long strap of the bag, i would not be able to live with mismatched leather on the loops or any obvious repair.. or use the bag to store something or as a makeup/odds and ends bag of sorts during travel...i refuse to give up on her! :)

Just an update, went to a Coach store today near me, the SA said that i could mail in my bag for an assessment but because i have had it for 4 years now, the issue will be put down as wear and tear and it might not be repaired as the leather with the same finish as the rest of the handle will not available. Also, the other loops require repairs as well. In her experience of sending bags in for repairs, other than a turn lock replacement or something similar, the bags got returned back as is or were issued a credit under the old policy, not applicable now...

I have not decided what to do yet with the bag...i did get another bag to replace this one, was lucky enough to find it at clearance!

Wait, do Coach bags no longer come with a lifetime guarantee?

Ok, that's BS, pardon my French. All our bags were purchased with the understanding that Coach stood behind them!

Yes, they did. And now they do, only for a year... I was not happy to learn that the new policy applied to our older bags.. I am wary of buying Coach now even, i only got a new bag as it was on clearance and seemed like a reasonable price..i dont think will buy anything other than clearance. And if this one breaks down on me, maybe off to another brand...

The return policy has changed too; when I bought a large borough recently at the outlet, the SA told me that if I change my mind I have 60 days to return it. I still have a wallet new with tags and receipt that I bought some time ago and never used; but I guess it is mine now, no returning it!

About your Sophia, I would still take it to a cobbler for an opinion and estimate; look for one that advertises that they repair luggage and bags as well as shoes. It doesn't hurt to enquire.

Yes, i learned about the return policy last Dec, anything i wasn't sure about went back. I do think that the new policies shoulsd have been communicated by Coach to its customers via email..

I will take it to a cobbler. Using just the long strap bunches the bag into a wierd shape, can't do that. Just need to hunt one down in my area! Thank You!!

I suspect they can't legally change that on prior purchases. It's like backing out of a contract.
