ladies,

i was looking feverishly through our condo for scissors. i couldn't find them in my desk drawer. couldn't find them in the kitchen. so i casually pull open my boyfriend's desk drawer and lo and behold...AN ENGAGEMENT RING BOX!!!! my stomach literally fell to the floor. i knew it was coming because we've talked openly about it. but i didn't know exactly where he was in the process. well...i guess it's safe to say that he MADE THE PURCHASE!!

i of course screamed and ran around the place with my dog following me because i was ECSTATIC! absolutely EUPHORIC! but then stopped in my tracks when i realized that he has the ring...but hasn't asked. now there's no telling when he actually bought it or how long he's had it. so every day since then i've been on pins and needles. this is the WORST! i wish i hadn't found it!!!! :wondering

i didn't look at it (because i do want to be surprised) but i read the stats on the GIA certificate (right next to it).

1.4 carat round brilliant, F color, tolkowsky ideal cut, SI2. it has pave diamonds that total .41 carats (so i think it's a halo...which is what i wanted).

IT IS GOING TO COMPLETELY BLOW TO HAVE TO THINK ABOUT THIS EVERYDAY UNTIL IT HAPPENS!!!! :sweatdrop:

OMG so exciting. Try as hard as you can to act surprised, bc it will hurt him if he knows that element is going to be missing. Other than that, Congrats!

i will definitely act surprised! i don't want to hurt him! i'm just so ready now. i found it on saturday and it's been AGONY since then. AGONY!!!!!!

Perhaps you can invent a reason for a romantic weekend away that will help push him toward the proposal? He's probably trying to come up with a good way to ask.

OMG!!!! That is so great! But torture too that you have to wait now!!! I hope he gets down on one knee soon! I can't believe you managed to not open the box, oh the temptation would've been too much! lol

That's what I think too - I think he is planning the right moment...:yahoo:

I think it will be funny to share this story with him... but down the road!:p

have you guys ever dealt with or had friends that dealt with guys who purchase the ring and sit on it for a long time? i'm really hoping that won't happen in this case. also, the ring is sitting in the top drawer of his desk. not the smartest/most discrete place to keep it!:shrugs:

Whatever you do, don't go back and sneak a peek! He really wants you to be surprised, so at least you will actually be surprised when you open the box. Plus, it will give you something to look forward to.

I've heard about guys sitting on rings for awhile. I think it usually happens when they are waiting for a good way to propose. Sometime guys feel pressure for the proposal to be perfect or seriously romantic or some great-big gesture. And us girls know that it doesn't matter as long as he's on his knee with some bling in his hand!

Lets have that discussion if you still haven't seen that ring in a month or two. I bet that won't happen, though!
