The difference between diamonds and designer bags is this, diamonds are diamonds, a well cut gia certified stone say 2ct vvs2 g color is the same if you purchase it from a local jeweler or Cartier, you can't say the same about handbags.... I see no reason to pay extra for a diamond because of the name of the jeweler, however if there is a particular style setting or jewelry design that you can't live without that is proprietary to a designer I don't believe in copying that. Personally I would prefer to go more custom anyway though. My setting is Scott Kay and I love it, fortunately I don't see THAT many like it, but if I were getting a ring now I might be considering something more unique, but maybe not because after 9 years I do still totally love my ring. Good luck!

try Levy Creations, 55 E. Madison. They are wholesalers and only sell GIA/AGSS certified diamonds. We've been shopping for my Ering and their prices are alot less than Tiffany's, Cartier. Since they're wholesalers, they can even copy any design you want, including Tiffany's.

PM me if you would like my uncle's name and phone number.

My three-stone ring is from HW and they were super nice and they did knock off quite a bit from the price AND no sales tax since at the time there was no HW in Chicago. Even now that we are purchasing 2 eternity bands from them they knocked down the price and AGAIN no sales tax since we are going to be shipping them to a state that has no HW!! Everyone at HW was so helpful and made sure that they made you happy!

I don't know about Tiffany, my wedding ring was from there, but we didn't ask for a better price. It can't hurt to ask them!

My SO and I have also been looking at e-rings. I personally feel more comfortable buying from a designer brand, than a local jeweler. I've found two styles that I absolutely love that are branded by Tiffany's.
In the end, go with the ring you love, since you'll be wearing it for life!
Good luck :smile1:

I do know that Harry Winston is willing to negotiate. We are looking at their cushion micropave ring and i've heard of discounts of up to 30%. Most girls get about 10 to 20% off a HW ring. HW basically triples their price so to them a 20% discount is nothing!
