How would you deal with a dishonest SA?

If the pendant is in perfect condition also consider that the SA was not permitted to order another one (perhaps from another store) when one is already in stock.
This could very likely be the case. She could straight out have told me that and I would be ok with it. Then she should let me decide if I still wanted it or not, but instead she lied about it. Thats what makes me wonder if her actions were acceptable or if I‘m being unreasonable…

As long as the piece you received is pristine, I would continue to enjoy it. I understand your frustration, but I wouldn’t bring this up to the SA or anyone above her. I certainly wouldn’t work with her again.
Thank you! Nothing wrong with the necklace. I just didn’t like the way I was treated in this process. Won’t be working with this SA again.

So… if I understand this correctly, the problem you have with the item is because it might have been tried on by someone else before?
No, the problem is not that someone may have tried it on. The problem is that she could have simply told me they cannot order another one for whatever reason and I would have been perfectly fine with it. But lying into my face and thinking I would never know anyway, that’s what I am upset about…

After reading this my biggest take-away was that the pics you took of the pendant while wearing it were sharp enough to capture a serial number....mine certainly wouldn't have been
IMO if the pendant is what you wanted and in mint condition, let it go. Maybe get a new SA down the line.
I know, right?! I was super surprised when I looked at the picture I took with my phone and was able to see the serial number very clearly… lol.
But thanks for your comment. Luckily nothing wrong with the pendant. I just wanted to hear what others have to say, if they were treated that way by an SA after spending so much money on a single piece of jewelry. After all, we pay a lot for the name of the brand as well as the luxury service, but being lied to shouldn’t have been part of my luxury purchase experience…

I've been in situations in which my SA has told me that they can order one. But then realize later that they cannot (for whatever reason), and have reached back out to me to let me know and ask me if I still would like to go through with the purchase, etc.

SA's are people. And some people take their jobs more seriously than others.
Being an SA of a luxury house does not mean that the SA has better customer service than other retail employees (we expect that of course, but alas it is not the case.)
Maybe she just wasn't as serious about it as you were. As in, it's not that big of a deal.
I'm not saying that's a good excuse for her behavior if she was being dishonest. But it's just something to think about.

We're probably beating a dead horse at this point, haha, so I'll be on my way.

Regardless of what has already happened. I hope your future purchases will be more enjoyable! :flowers:

If the pendant is new and no scratches on it I will continue to enjoy it, sometimes it’s hard to find replacement specially Vca items in high demand , However I probably will choose new SA for my future Vca purchase .

It’s from the boutique so it better be new. But it’s a Diamond one with gold, hence there would not be visible scratches. I wasn’t in a rush to buy it and could have waited for a brand new one. I am more concerned about the clasp wearing out if too many people had tried it on. Not so much about scratches.

I would be upset. I would not have cared at the time I viewed the peice and purchased it when it presented to me ...BUT... I am not you and I respect you and your wishes. if I specifically asked for a new peice to be ordered, and my feelings were disregarded without an explanation I would be very upset. Because Your feelings and requests were not respected. When people try and disregard my requests and they are sneaky, I am thankful that they reveal their real personalities. The SA could have thought you were unrealistic and/or batsh-t crazy, but that is not the point. The SA could have come back nicely/sweetly and said that a new one could not be acquired for you, and will you please take the one that you tried on? Maybe even saying it will be specially cleaned, or given an extra pouch. BUT the SA did not respect you and we all know why....$. The world is upside down right now - the consumer is catering to the SA or the fashion house. This is not right in my world. The more I study these behaviours, the more I am more than happy to shop with random SAs or better yet - shop on line! I would send a text to the SA and say this is the same serial number and gauge the response. Then I would take time to think it thru. These items we are acquiring are very expensive and we should be treated with honesty. That SA would be crossed off my list for sure.

I would just return yours and use the store credit and purchase from another SA. Letting her know isn’t going to teach her a lesson but taking away that sales commission will. But I’m savage lol don’t come for meeee
Unfortunately, I’m already outside of the return period by the time I found out what she did. But LOL. Yeah, that would have taught her lesson.

hat she tried to fool me… I expected better service from a brand like VCA. Instead she lied and it leaves a sour taste in my mouth now…
But I agree with your comment that I have to trust the SA… I won’t make future purchases with this SA anymore but not sure if it was worth ”opening a can of worms” since I will still be buying from this boutique but from another SA…

I think you're smart not to open a can of worms if you want to continue shopping at that boutique. SA's talk to each other. So I bet if you said anything, even just to her, other SA's would hear her version of the situation. It might get you unofficially - and wrongly - labeled a Difficult Customer among the SA's at that boutique.

Thank you!!! I’m glad that you’re seeing my point. Yes! These pieces are expensive. Especially this Diamond pave necklace and this is the way I was treated. I won’t be buying from her anymore. I might be telling her why if I ever encounter her in the boutique.
Sales Associates are people and they make business decisions. They are not naughty children and don’t need to be taught a lesson. If you don’t like one, don‘t shop with them. You never know, he/she might be perfectly fine with losing you as a client.
So you support that it is ok that businesses such as VCA do shady business decisions because they have to make money?! You must be that type of customer who would put up with sneaky SA’s and just let them treat you the way they feel like is right because they need to do what’s best for their business, not what’s best for their reputation and customer satisfaction. Your SA must be very happy to have an easy going customer like you then. ;)
I’m perfectly fine as well to not buy from this SA anymore but I posted this question here to get some validation that my feelings are justified because the way I was lied to by this SA.

Thanks for the advice. Very true. I will leave this SA but had no intentions of not buying from this particular boutique anymore. Makes sense what you’re saying. :)

Criteria for building a relationship with a SA:
Trust, confidence, product knowledge, honesty, professionalism & respect which all speak for themselves.
If you are not happy with this SA. sure there will be some other SA that will be delighted
to work with you & learn from this experience which I sense you have
Enjoy your necklace & that is what should count in spite of your experience
