How to Transport Crazy Haul from Europe

I remember some high profile TPFrs got burgled and had bags and jewellery stolen and then they disappear from Social Media and rightly so. I hope that YouTuber's next purchase is a guard dog or two; am assuming she already has an alarm system but dogs are way more effective since there is still a short window of opportunity after an alarm gets triggered. Would hate to hear something bad happen to her.

I am not 100% sure, but I think I know who you guys are talking about. In general though, I think it is impossible to bring in a lot of luxury items amounting to a lot of money without being detected and without paying taxes..in addition to the fact that everything is computerized now and most likely linked to each other (refunds and Customs). If someone makes an announcement online too that she is going to Paris to shop for a lot of pricey items, don't you think that someone somewhere will definitely spot her along the way? As to taking back the luxury haul from overseas to the U.S., I have seen some say that they "put a box within a box" to maximize what they can bring home. But the other option is to pay for excess baggage. Not sure if she really saved a lot, but I think that the term "cheaper" is relative. Some people think that if they buy something for a penny less they have already snagged a great deal.

Hello Lovely people! So a few days ago I was browsing YouTube, and a YouTuber I used to watch ( but stopped Bc her hauls got nauseating) recently went to Paris and went on an almost obsessive compulsive manic shopping spree. Anyways, the amount of stuff she brought back to the US was insane. Multiple Chanel, LV, Hermès shoes bags clothing, all in their boxes. My questions are:

1) how can she bring all this stuff to the US without being taxed? She claims she bought it all in Europe Bc it’s cheaper ( which is true) but wouldn’t bringing in so much goods into the US be heavily taxed?
2) how did she pack all the bags and boxes?

People have repeatedly asked her these questions on her instagram, but she has ignored the questions. Any idea? I was just curious how the tax situation works.

Hello dear, I’m assuming you’re talking about lvlovercc. I watched her hauls recently and based on the videos I don’t think she brought back all her boxes. If you can see she does the hermes and Chanel unboxings in her hotel room. I saw what she bought and I think it’s possible to have stuffed most if not all of the items without boxes including the lv items in carry ons like lv duffles esp since she was there with her husband. A lot of the items were small and you could put things inside other items. For example - The picotin is collapsible and that Pochette is teeny tiny and may have been packed into her pink lv tote. That reissue is also collapsible and packs flat. She could have worn her coat. She likely checked all the empty boxes in suit cases and put boxes inside one another. I kind of doubt she shipped things because that would negate the savings and given she is being so public about her haul she very likely declared everything. I saw some comments about a 100k spend and a Lear jet? Doing some quick math that estimate is no where near what I think she spent esp since there was a substantial savings with buying in Europe. Also based on the latest video of her house, which is nice but by no means anything that would come close to someone having a Lear jet, I am really doubtful her family travels like that. Sometimes she does vlog sales after major hauls, so it’ll be interesting to see if she does. Regardless she really lucked out with some great buys in Europe!

There was a time on this board where people would come home with multiple diamond croc birkins (one person came home with 3 at one time, I think, including that white croc one) because they couldn’t decide on just one. Some people really just have that much money. I’d guess that this YouTube person could be flying private, or just separately ship the bags back. I wouldn’t doubt that the bags are real. From what I’ve seen on these boards, a 40k or even 100k haul is not outside of the realm of normal. Do I wish I had that much money? Sure! Would be nice.

Admittedly, I took a peek.
To each their own but in my book this kind of presentation is just incredibly crass. I guess it makes me appreciate more that I live in a culture that values understatement.

I don't begrudge this lady any of her possessions but being someone who has a problem wearing even my "low intensity" logo designer items shopping at the local Liedl that's situated in the only poorer area close to where I live, this overt kind of public flaunting of your material superfluousness makes me a bit queasy to be honest. It comes off as desperate.

It’s her money/husbands money and she can do whatever she pleases, but when you make things public we have a right to state our opinion. To purchase luxe items which in many cases are duplicated makes no sense to me. I find it amusing that she wears her Chanel purse, Manolo pumps, and Burberry scarf to KMart. I honestly admit I used to love her style and based on her recommendations and have purchased several luxe items. But now she has gone overboard with the unnecessary hauls just to get oohs and ahh from her adoring subscribers.

Also, what is scary is that she puts all of her business on YouTube. We have seen her home and new Mercedes, we saw the unnecessary home remodel, everyone knows that she purchased a new home. She has even posted her new home online! We know her children and hubby even though she claims he doesn’t want to be in video.. it downright frightens me that some crazy person out there will take advantage of her naiveness.

Oh well enough of my rant. This post is supposed to be about how she shipped all this crap back to the US from Paris. She claims she will post a video soon. I will wait to see.

I think she mentioned while she was in Paris that she wouldn't bring back her boxes. Her hauls are likely being filmed in front of boxes and bags she already has at home. She must have spent at least 50K or more, just her H stuff alone was 25+, and she went nuts in LV and Chanel. Has she ever mentioned flying private? It's possible they don't fly commercial so have no worries over packing items to bring home. I watch in disbelief... the funniest part of her haul for me - "I bought my husband a gift"... well, not really... he's paying for everything.

He may be paying for everything, but they’re married so it’s their money. When I get paid, I don’t tell my husband it’s my money or vice versa. When I wasn’t working, not one time did he ever say that it was his money. At one point he was not working, I never said that it was my money. If he wants a stay-at-home wife/mother (she worked before having kids), she shouldn’t have to ask to spend money. Who knows? They may have an agreed upon allowance. My husband and I both have an allowance/play money as do our children.

Charis said in the video that she wasn’t going to be able to take the boxes home. Also, if I’m not mistaken, this was an anniversary trip. I don’t remember. He obviously doesn’t have a problem with it because she shops a lot. I don’t see the big deal about shopping at Kmart with a Birkin. Everyone needs toilet paper. Hell, I’ve shopped at Goodwill while carrying a Chanel.

I don’t follow and didn’t see the haul videos but did browse her IG. She didn’t fly private or first class. I say this because it seems like the trend for all these influencers to show off their first-class cabins, if they did indeed fly on first.

As for packing, in the past I’ve done the box inside the box method. It works well if you buy less than 5 bags and a whole bunch of accessories. I remember being able to stuff one WOC box and a whole bunch of CHANEL jewelry boxes into one classic m/l box. Plus, the LV boxes are all collapsible now. You can always post your boxes. I also once did this for all of my items’ boxes and it cost me only $40, much much cheaper than checking in an extra piece of luggage.

Well now we know how she purchases all of her luxe goodies. In her latest giveaway video she mentioned that she has a part time job! So along with being a mom of 2 small kids and one on the way, making and editing YouTube videos, and online shopping she works PT from home! She also said that she makes little from YT and her husband doesn’t pay for any of her purchases. I need this job....Sigh, I digress!
Regarding packing, we have all layered our goodies to make them fit into luggage. But have you tried with Close to $100k worth of stuff, and having to go through US customs when your allowance is $800pp. I think this is what the originator of this post was asking.

I saw that, and I wasn't sure what she meant. I thought what you thought at first, but as I kept watching I think she meant that being a stay-at-home parent was her job. So I was wondering if that's what she meant. I think it's been discussed on the forum before and it's kind of a contentious topic so maybe we shouldn't get into it, but here's an article about it: https://nypost.com/2015/05/28/i-love-my-wife-bonus-deal-with-it/

(Side note: being a stay at home parent is super hard and absolutely no judgment on her if that's what she meant!)

Did she really buy $100k worth of stuff? Not that it’s unheard of, but I didn’t see any exotics or 10 Birkins/Kellys lined up (yes I skimmed through her hauls after the number $100k was brought up).

In any case, she might have gotten lucky and didn’t get noticed. I’ve walked through customs declaring $15-20k purchases without having to pay taxes. Maybe she took an indirect flight, stopping over somewhere in the US. I find that it is much easier (customs-wise) when you have a layer-over in the US before your final destination. The last two times I flew to Europe from SF, with a layover in NYC, I didn’t go through customs upon landing back in SF. So if she did do the US layer-over option and had her bags packed in her suitcases, then she could have skipped out on having to declare her items.

I love watching her vids as I am not able to go to the stores often. Kinda living vicariously through her. Most of the time I shop/buy when it is for a bday or anniversary.

I must admit that when I saw her recent haul vids that it was bordering on excessive. However I think she took advantage of lower price in Europe, vat refund and the items being available there. If I missed out on an item here in the US and had a chance to buy it directly at a store for cheaper in EU I would take advantage and buy it. In general, she also tries to save where she can like coupons and discounts. She partners her Gap tshirt for example with burberry scarf. It is not all high end with her. Does it really matter where she gets her money? Am I curious and a bit envious at times? Absolutely! However I don't throw hate/bad juju towards her. If she can afford it, good for her. I'm sure other people think of me kinda the same way. Every time they see me I have a different LV purse on me. My hubby even told me that one of his colleagues was saying that her latest purse is her one and only LV that hubby got for her as a gift but I do know she travels several times a year outside the US for vacas. The other lady in the convo who I know makes a lot of $$$$ says last time she bought a purse was 3 yrs ago and her husband has not bought her a purse as a gift before. Hubby says I at least bought her 3 this year (not all LVs) because thats what I wanted. He was being a proud hubby for making me a happy wife and getting gifts I like. Also too, we both work and work hard for our money. It all goes to one account. Hubby never says its his money or made me feel I am less because he gets paid more. I actually can't wait when I get my business up and running that I get to spoil him rotten when I am earning more.
I work from home so every chance I get to go out I try to use a different purse. Hubby and I dont spend money on a lot of stuff. I dont go to the salon every week or so to get my hair and nails done. I barely even buy makeup. Shopping is my hobby. Bags and clothes are my jam. I don't buy at retail price if I can. If there is a discount I'll use it. If there is a dress I like, I typically wait for it to go on sale. To each their own and hope we celebrate that more with each other.
