Hi - I wanted to get your opinions on how to deal with this.

So I started a relationship with a wonderful and sweet SA - I put myself on the list ( I gave her several colors and sizes). I did not think I would get a call for at least 6 months to a year and and I swear in less than a week I got a call for a birkin on my list (4th choice).

The problem this is not my first choice-- I want to buy my first choice and then go down the line. I'm afraid once I say no I will never get a call again... How should I handle this. BTW my SA has never met me-- I was a referral from someone else.

Thanks. :sweatdrop:

if it is one of the bags you had really wanted, I would go ahead and get it. It might not come along for a long time and then you will regret it. Now if you've changed your mind completely and it is not a bag that you would love to own then pass, but maybe don't ask for it again.

Sorry, don't really see the dilemma here. Tell her it's your 4th choice bag, not your 1st and that you want to go in order. You're still a customer -- not today, but probably very soon.

Anyhow, your turning down the bag will make someone else looking for that bag VERY happy!

I have to say go to your first or second choices FIRST.I had a bad experience on buying something I was not really wanted.so the bag sit in the closet most of the times.

Thanks, I was just worried if you turn down a bag -- if that will hurt your chances of the SA wanting to help you again.

To be honest, I think sometimes it happens. SAs are all humans and they all have different personalities. Some don't take rejections very well. Some may think that you are playing games.

You had it as one of your options. It is to be regarded as *your* order. She didn't offer you something that is completely not your choice.

I am with loren here. You need not 'work down the list', KWIM? Because maybe when you are indeed ready for No.4, No.4 may no longer be offered, if new colours supersede it.

And as a referral from someone else, you are very lucky to be offered a Birkin without having met the SA. Please treasure the relationship that your referral has with the SA. Don't forget how important this is.

If there is no financial problem I say get it.

Do ask first if there is any quota for your store as to birkins, if there is, tell your SA that you would really like to get the 1st/2nd choice and don't want to waste your quota for the year. Every store policy is different so it is better that you ask.

It is a very rare thing to get a call in such short time for a Birkin. I agree with LS and MrS, take the Birkin. Even if it is your 4th choice, it's still your choice.

If it is not the bag you want for now do not buy it. On the other hand, as some of tpfers have noted you may not have a chance to buy a birkin of your choice for a while when you have puchased your other desires.
Good luck in your decision!

Mrssparkles made a very good point. Every SA is different. Some don't mind if a clinet say 'No', but I have seen a SA ranting about her client rejected her Birkin offer. She also said she would never call her again to offer a Birkin:wtf:. I didn't know what the detail story was, but I heard with my own ears a SA said it to another SA talking about it just like that!

But, don't worry! Most of SAs are very understanding that Birkin is expensive and the bag has to be perfect for you!

chicpurse, every store is different, I only mentioned the quota part to let you come to a more informed decision. It may or may not apply to your store so you should ask.
