How to organize your closet and handbags

I really need some inspiration for organizing my overgrown bag (and accessories) collection. Please share some of your closet photos! I'm totally inspired by Lulu's organized closet. :D

Right now I share the closet with my dresses and DH's big overcoats and quickly running out of room!

I know this was posted in another thread, but at least this will give some ideas for closet stuff:

I used those metals "cubes" that you can buy at WalMart, Target, etc. pretty cheap and put them together on top of two set of plastic drawers (I keep my accessories and craft stuff in those). One set was placed on a top shelf to create a divided space as well as an extra shelf on top that you cannot see in the photo. On that I have my large totes and travel items stored flat. :)

This is the inside of one of those plastic drawers. There are a couple more like this, and the drawers are differnt sizes and depths, and I find this set is perfect for storing my HH wallets perfectly! I can see all of the colors without having to dig:

wow Bri i think i want to live in your closet for awhile! that wallet collection is so pretty all color coordinated like that. :D how do u choose which one to use when there's such a big collection? (wishing i had that problem lol)

^I can't. That's my problem. I've honestly used not even half of them.. Ever. :( The nice thing about the cubes is that they separate everything well, so you can kinda make bag categories for yourself. It makes it a lot easier when looking for a bag. I had little tags on them all, but I removed them because it just looked messy in my closet. :(

bri, love your closet! omg. you have a boutique of leather goodness in there.

i should use my dustbags. am i the only one who's bad and keeps her bags out in the open? otherwise, i don't know which is which and forget that i have certain bags.

I do keep my bags in dustbags, but I do leave the ones I use a lot out. Which makes me think, if they're still in the dustbags and not being used, why do I have them?? :D

^Cho, you are getting ready for baby, Mamma! You will have plenty of time for your closet redo after you have your little bundle of joy! I'll come visit, and we'll have a closet reorg party. :D

Having this system setup is fantastic for reaching what you need. The dustbags are all aligned in the same manner for each cube, so it is super easy to open/take a peek in the top to look at a color if needed. :) This way, they stay super protected as well. :D

Well, don't worry Cho. Your nesting instincts will kick in about into your 3rd trimester when you'll go nuts wanting to reorganize everything so leave all the cleaning until then. ;) If you end up with 20 diaperbags by the time baby comes, you can blame it on hormones. lol

Bri do you stuff your bags at all? I think that's my problem with lack of space. I have prob a quarter of the amt of bags you have, but they take up much more room because I'm totally anal and don't want to crinkle the leather. So I stuff them as much as I can without it taking up too much room.

Some of the bags are stuffed- (those that have more, um, fragile leathers). Because they are all inserted into the cubes together and upright, they don't wrinkle. :) I am physco about the dustbags, so like to keep them on whenever possible. There are some IF bags that I have that I don't have in the dusbags because they are in a stack facing handles forward so I can see them. :)

The back of the door hangers are very handy for keeping your bags, too. I have one on each door, and they have scarves and non leather bags (canvas, nylon, etc.).

You are so organized Bri, and from others stating what you do, so are you!!

Not to make a mountain out of a molehill, but my bags actually are a mountain, and it is embarrassing!!:shame:
I tried one day to go through them all to organize, but got frustrated I couldn't stand for long periods and said screw it!! They are all in their bags, but stacked in front of my closet and in the corner. I need to get things organized because it is a waste for my walk-in closet not to be used for storing my bags. I can't even open the door right now. I have been using the closet in the laudry room for my clothes.(drives dh nuts!!) It is a good size and is accesible!!:laugh:

mib- what was that site where you found my plastic drawer set? That site has some GREAT organization materials. There are a zillion things on there that I would love to have in my office. :)

Lauri- I should come visit. Or- send a photo and I'll draw an org chart for you. :)
