Hi all,

There is no H-boutique within driving distance from where I live (Australia). The nearest boutique to me is in Melbourne, which is a 4-hour flight away.

I've been brainstorming for the best way to get my hands on the riding boots. The main problem is, I dont know my shoe size very well (tsk, tsk), and am also unfamiliar with european sizing. Also, because my feet are wide, I need to size up with certain cuts--> which means that I really need to try the boots before buying.

As I understand, it'd be much easier for the SA to order in a pair if i know my size. So, Im hoping that some of u ladies can give some suggestions on the best way to go about this

Im thinking the best way I can do this is to either fly to the nearest boutique in Aust, or to Singapore, or even France, to try them on and to get them. Therefore, I have some initial questions here:

1) Are the riding boots rare in Australia??
2) What about at the Singapore boutiques?
3) If I were to make a trip to France to hunt for these boots, what are my chances of success? Am I able to ring through and check on stock availability or even put them on hold?

Any help or suggestions wld be much appreciated! Many thanks in advance! ;)

Felle, the Jumping boots in both black and brown are in Sydney (also the Japanese slightly shorter version in black). It's just a matter of finding the right size. You could call and ask what they have available? They're just so stunning!

I find some of H shoes a little narrow and it doesn't matter what size I try, it will not work with my feet! Some are however TTS. I can't fit my calves in a boot so I'm sorry I can't help with sizing. HTH.

Come to Sydney and come shopping! Paddington is always lots of fun....

Felle, the Jumping boots are beautiful. To me, they fit true to size. I normally wear size 7 in the US and I can wear size 37 with no problem. My feet are on the wide side too. With these boots you have to be careful with the calf fit. If you have full calves (like I do) they can feel snug. I used to wear mine only with tights or thin leggings but after getting the calves stretched 1/2 inch (by Leather Spa, sent there by Hermes in NY) I can tuck in jeans. Also different pairs seem to fit differently. They are supposed to be the same leather, but I have two dfiferent pairs and one is more supple and comfortable.

They are all hand made. I also have two pair. And they fit slightly differently. Narrow calves and yes a fairly wide footbed. They have no zippers so they can be a challenge to get on but once on they are very comfortable. They tend to mold to your foot after awhile. The bottoms are raw leather, I had vibrim put on mine to protect from our wet Chicago weather. I love these boots. They spoil you for other boots.

bags to die for, thank you for the advice, about the boutiques in Sydney! Im quite relieved to hear that the jumping boots arent as rare the birkins in Aust.. I'd love to do Sydney again. The last time when I was there for work, I only had one weekend to shop, and didnt venture into paddington. When I get the chance, I'd def hit the H-boutique :graucho:

Tamarind and TankerToad, thank you for the tips on wearing the boots! The weather's wet here in Australia, esp during winter. So I'll prob need to work on the leather-care part too. I dont have slim (and enviable) calves.. So Im really hoping hard that I can squeeze myself in. But the slim cut is what makes those boots so attractive! Sigh!

Im a size 8.5 or 9 in US size (i think). Im hoping that huge sizes arent going to be too difficult to find!

avedashiva, you're welcome to throw in more queries. Would be nice to have as much relevant info here as possible.

Hi felle! Hi TT!

I just measured my feet for you! They are 22cm (from tip of toe to back of heel). My jumping boots are a size 36. I usually wear a size 6 or 6.5 US. They fit beautifully! Well, except for one minor, minor nuisance - it's a bit snugger on my left calf. I know this can be remedied easily. There is plenty of room for my toes. I can wear socks too! HTH! Happy New Year!

~Sorry I've been MIA for the last month! Crazy, fun, stressful holidays! I'm currently giving my house the much needed overhaul it desperately needs. I feel like a hoarder...

Oh, forgot to answer that they are 1850.00 USD in December 09.

Understand that they are handmade individually, hence, each pair would differ slightly (like the bags). It's really best to try them in person mostly for the calf fit, which is tricky as there's no zip on them. I don't see many in the Singapore boutiques (not surprising as it's mostly too warm to wear the style here).

felle - i am a size 38 for jumping boots, and my two recent H shoes, 38.5.
I am a true size 38 for most european brands like tods, gucci etc. And I remember MaiTai me the jumping boots runs a bit big. And you can for sure fit in one, u r skinner than me, from head to toes:p And the normal length will be ok too

I suggest u try the shoe. And what can be a better excuse to visit Paris again, FSH has many pairs waiting for u

Hope it helps.

Hi do a search, there is a riding boots thread at the main forum, some pfers mentioned that the boots can be stretched at the calf area.
Good luck in your search, I've gotten tons of compliments on my jumping boots.

Hi anin8888, it's good to hear that u're busy having fun during the holidays season! And THANK YOU for going to the extent to measure ur feet size! It'll definitely serve as a useful guide if i really have to order a pair in for myself ;) With regards to the prices, it does seem like it's cheaper in the US. I remb hermeschicuk mention before in her thread that it costs something like GBP1300.

mspiggy, thank u for the input about the sg boutiques. I might give that option a pass then, although I can still drop by for the silk items on my next visit back home :p

robee, did u get urs at FSH? I'd love to visit France again, sometime end of this year. But I might not stay longer than 4 days if I do (too many places on my list to visit- sigh). Are there many sizes readily available? I saw MT's blog too. That, and ur reveal, really whipped up my appetite for a pair of well-fitted boots. I believe that i might be around the same size as her.

IceEarl, how's the availability of the boots in HK like? Maybe i can work in a visit to the HK boutiques too :graucho:

Yes, I got my in FSH, and served by a totally cute SA!
Definitely well stock in FSH. I can't find my size in other france stores i visit, except monaco but the SA totally not interested to serve me:p

You will not have prob with your calf.
FSH can expand another few cms for u, only thing the shoes need to be there for 5 days. You can find the simple buckle riding boots thr too.

Hi felle,

Stateside here, we have both colors and and I'm a true 38(also a bit wider) and the boots are a good fit ..
The most important is the calf - for the life of me - I can't wear these boots w/out stretching them first for it to be comfortable .. IMO, you def can rock these w/ ease .. wait .. calling SA .. the calves measure 14" - 14.5" HTH
