Hi All!

I just purchased a lovely pre owned bag. The exterior is very nice but the interior is heavily stained with makeup.

What can I do / to where should I send it to have the suede interior cleaned? I'd prefer to have it completely cleaned not just spot cleaned as the bag has a strong perfume odor.

Thanks for your advice!!

This is pretty hard to do as the makeup probably has stained the leather. This is almost like pen marks, which is almost impossible to get rid of completely. The odor could be eliminated by placing out in the sun for few days or clean it with some suede cleaner. But the makeup...I have no good idea.

If you want clean the inside of the purse and get rid of the smell use Collonil Inside Fresh and Clean.

If you what to have it cleaned/repaired by a professional contact Santana Creative. They're the repair people that Nordstroms uses.

I have a old coach purse with the same color suede on the outside. I would love to clean it, but nothing has seemed to work so far. Did you find anything for inside your purse?

Not yet. I've called severs places including Lovingmybags and Artbags. All said they could "try" to clean it but it likely will only lighten the stains. ☹

Thanks. I'll give them a call

I unthinkingly nudged my new bag with my foot on the suede flap and it has dirty marks on it now . So upset, I tried rubbing them with my finger and now it has smudged.
Any tips on how to clean suede?
Thank you

I think it's tricky. Have you tried a white eraser from an art store? Also I notice Kiwi has Suede and Nubuck cleaner but I have not tried it.

I have a Celine sangle in red suede and it could probably use a clean, although it’s still in pretty good condition. I purchased a suede brush but I’m terrified of using it Like they do in the videos due to the metal bristles. Does anyone have any experience with maintaining a fully suede bag? Thoughts and experiences greatly appreciate!

I've plenty of suede and nubuck bags, none of them Celine, but it's the same rules. One of my vintage Guccis is very fine suede, it's made even harder to clean since it has little 'G's printed on it, it's from 1970 and it's perfect.

You don't need a metal brush for suede that hasn't gone 'bald' (it's smoothed out). They're just used to re-raise (roughen-up) the surface again. Even then it should be done gently.

Fine suede and nubuck should only need a clean, gentle brush to whisk away dirt and brush the pile plush again. The sturdier the suede the stiffer the brush - but never wire. Try to find a brush that has fairly soft, natural, undyed bristles. Use a baby's hairbrush if you can't find anything else.

For the very finest suede, nubuck and chamois, companies used to give a spare square of the material (sometimes backed to make it stiffer) so that the owner could brush the suede item with another piece of suede of the exact fineness and colour.

Better to brush your bag gently, regularly than let it get optically dirty/worn first. However, suede is quite easy to keep:

Stuff your bag inside corners or anywhere creases naturally occur.
Hold it from the inside
Brush gently along all edges and seems first
Work more gently as you get to the middle of larger areas
Aim to get all the suede looking plush and one colour

Is it possible to clean suede and make a bag like this look better? It's between balding and dirt on one corner. If there is any specific product you used and would suggest please let me know! I hate to let this bag go but I may be too OCD to wear it. 🙈😅

About four or five years ago i bought a BEAUTIFUL 100% leather handbag from the GAP of all places. It was a fall day in Manhattan and I was looking for socks and came across a this amazing bag. Who would have thought? And a sheepskin suede! I am still amazed! And for only 350.00 I figured it was meant to be mine.

Problem now is its A MESS!!!!!!!! ive NEVER cleaned it and it is so bad i am embarrassed to wear it!!!

Any suggestions on what to use to clean it? Its a Im nervous talking it to a leather cleaners here as they have ruined two of my leather jackets already (have a slight obsession with s leather store here called Danier. far too many jackets in my closet!)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as i really love the bag.
my best advice is to get a horsehair brush and brush the life out of it, and the other option might be to try micellar water- ive had success with it for suede shoe detailing in the past.
