I'd never post a photo of my ring here w/ the price paid for it :-s
I'm guessing the majority of people wouldn't do that.
 Exactly

I've posted the specks of my ring in this forum, you can jot it down on a piece of paper go to your jeweler and ask him how much it costs...

BTW dh paid for the center stone, and I paid for the setting-materials etc. I wanted to have it my own way and it was only fair to pay for my caprices, right?

I don't have a problem stating how much my ring cost. :smile1: I'm very proud of it and I think we got an excellent value for the money. My ring ended up being approximately $2800 after tax and I got a .99 ctw asscher center stone with an octagonal halo that borders it. I don't remember what the carat weight of the accent stones in the halo or down the shank are, but the metal is 14k white gold. We went with that to really reduce the price of the ring, which allowed me to get a nicer center stone.

My ring is the perfect compromise for my fiance and I and I love it. :smile1:

Oh and about going over budget, we did go over. Initially my fiance wanted to spend around $1500. We looked for quite a while at pawn shops for a ring that I loved but weren't able to find one. Most of the ones I liked were over that amount. I wanted to keep looking because I was sure I could find one for that price, it would just take time, but my fiance got frustrated and upped the budget. *LOL*

It sounds like you got a killer deal on your ring! Have you posted pics of it somewhere before? Can't remember if I've seen it or not...

No, I have been bad and haven't posted pictures of it and I've been engaged for a year now. We ended up ordering an antique style setting and our jeweler had all of the accent stones put into it when it came in, because she said she would use better quality stones for cheaper, than the manufacturer would. I'll take pictures soon and post them. :smile1:

That makes sense!! :graucho:

in terms of intended budget vs actual: we spent double what we had originally planned to lol. i did not want a big ol fancy ring- we looked at simple solitaires for a long time, but then when we started looking at rings with stones along the band, the budget was forgotten. DH loves the ring we ended up getting, and i really like that we were able to have things customized for us since i have no desire to ever upgrade the ring- so we got exactly what we wanted.

the only thing DH and i negotiated with each other was the carat size. he thought 1.5 would be too big, so i agreed to 1.25. i'm happy with that because i like that my ring is modest. i think it'd be too flashy for me personally to have 1.5. total carat weight with the setting is about 1.5 anyways.

we don't think twice about how much was spent on the e-ring since we're so pleased with it. i think we would have spent more in the long run if we had chosen a ring that we didn't really love as much and then chosen to upgrade later on down the road.

Please do; it sounds beautiful! Thanks!

i know how much my setting costs, but i don't think he wants me to know how much he spent.

i'm fine with that, really. its his own money. although i may see the paperwork once its in my posession and we insure it.

I voted as well but I had to estimate because I had nothing to do with the selection and purchase; that was all my DH :smooch: I just went off the appraisal for the insurance. This is a very interesting poll. Good thread

I voted, but I won't say what the cost was over a decade ago. That being said, it is just over a carat and it is nearly flawless. I would never think of having it replaced/upsized. When I got it, we were both in grad school and my husband paid for it himself in cash. He started saving as soon as he met me. It represents the promise of a life together.
