haha Thanks aquablueness, thats so sweet of you.

Well I've had a thing for their amethyst cocktail rings ever since I saw this:

thats the 8.5 carat cushion cut in yellow gold. I love the rich, vibrant colour of the amethyst in this ring. The silver ones have a lighter colour, like this:

and its a 9 carat emerald cut set in silver. I always find the emerald cut to be so elegant and less showy than cushion cuts so I thought I would go for the silver. I do want to try to find a silver amethyst ring thats a rich, vibrant dark colour like the gold so my SA said she'd keep an eye out for me. The colours vary with different amethysts but most of them are quite light.

I feel the same way as you do about the cushion cut vs the emerald cut. We might be twins in the near future...i absolutely adore this ring the minute it first came out. Please find me and show me as i'll be drooling all over your beauty when you get it! I hope you get the dark and rich amethyst stone that you're desiring in your heart :D

Too much is more than you wear. I've been collecting over the past 20 years... needless to say, I pretty much had sated myself on silver until Gehry designs started coming out - I adore orchid and fish!
I think that gold would be an excellent addition to your silver! Maybe even with a little touch of sparkle.

Thanks BagsAreMyBabies I totally see what you mean, and nothing is a daily wear for me! It looks like silver it is...I really love the look more than gold or platinum. But there are some gold pieces, 20k plus, I know I can't afford yet. I'm a college freshman and I'm also a teenage guy so no earrings or anything.

I wear the requisite 1837 a lot (I have maybe ten pieces). I just bought an 1837 interlocking circles pendant for me $200, a necklace for my girlfriend ($100) last Saturday and I went back Monday for a titanium key necklace ($250).

I crave a new piece of jewelry a month so I really do think a simple eternal circle medium pendant with a 20" silk cord will get me pretty far. And I can buy that 1837 silver cuff (the one I don't have yet).

I've always liked Tiffany because they take silver seriously. They have great customer service, policies, beautiful designs, and when I say the coach of jewelry I mean overexposed. But there are some great coach bags my girlfriend loves, and some unusual silver Tiffany designs. Plus Tiffany is always quality - really.

Thank you all for your comments. In a few months I'll post pics, and maybe start a new thread for a great Tiffany (and a token Cartier, Gucci) reveal later! Bagalicious, I hope you find your dream amethyst, and ahertz, your taste is amazing! Surfergirl Jen, I totally know what you mean about people buying the "same" thing over again and I really don't understand it either:amuse:. Well thanks for your help guys. I'll catch you on other threads.

the other thing is silver is great for everyday wear. besides my ring the most expensive thing i wear to work is my diamond watch. i like tiffany silver pieces (or a few nondesigner whilte gold and diamond pieces) they are appropriate for day to day so they dotn sit in the drawer waiting for a special occassion.

Glad that I could help;)! Oooohhh, we're key twins! I have the titanium key as well. I bought it about three weeks ago and I am so in love with it! Actually, I went to look at the Rose Gold key today and was thinking of layering it with the titanium. The Tiffany SA had her doubts, as did my friend, but when I layered it (Putting the rose gold on a silver ball chain with my titanium on a longer ball chain) everyone loved it. I didn't buy it - decide to contemplate it overnight. As I said in my previous post, Im not a gold person so the rose gold is branching out without really going gold. I liked the idea of playing around with mixing metals in a funky, yet still classy way. We'll see! Like I said, need to sleep on it:)

Yes definitely post pics when you make your purchases!

I did it. I bought the $350 silk and rose gold mini eternal circle necklace. It's fairly small, but it's very nice. It looks like a classy copper. It's not the only thing I'll get for Christmas this year considering that low price!

I see what you mean by branching out. However, Tiffany has all the designs and designers I love. And my local store has the best customer service I've ever received at any store, no pressure, down-to-earth, very helpful people. I'm always happy after a trip there. Not to mention they have the best prices of all designer jewelers.

It also came in the most amazing gray suede pendant box with a silk interior, very classy.

As soon I figure out my webcam I'll send pics. There are millions of tons of gold ore in the world, and I have my little 1/10 of an ounce. It's all I ever wanted. Really.
