Oh totally - I didn't know what it was either until TPF! Now I want one!!!!! UGH. Never mind VCA....

Okay it's $4600 Canadian and $4300 USD... which is about equal with exchange right now.

I just got one and when I took it in to get the engraving, I glanced at the receipt and it was $4600!! I felt bad bc I didn't think they were THAT expensive. I think the price had just gone up before Xmas.

The price of gold has gone up dramatically. 30% last year, to be exact, according to the Wall Street Journal. That is why everything is dang high.
I happened across an article about a movie actress and her love for Cartier, and these were the prices for the following, back in 2006:
Baby Love rose gold necklace: $1350 and now $1700
Yellow gold and diamond Love ring: $2200 and now $2675
White gold Love ring: $1080 ( no matter how many times I try, it won't show me this ring...did I mention how much I hate the Cartier website? so buggy!)
Yellow gold Love bracelet: $2975 and now $4300

The prices will continue to go up as long as there are enough people willing to pay the price. Not only does it yield the designers a higher profit, but it helps keep the illusion of 'luxury' for the particular item. If the masses can easily afford it, it's no longer seen as a luxury.

This all makes me think that I should grab mine the next time I'm in the US, even if it's to hide away for future use. ;) It's just going to keep going up and up and up!

By the way, fellow Canadians, yes definitely cheaper in the US right now! I think I worked it with tax and rough exchange rate that buying one in Florida would be $4300 + 7% tax

That's $4377.00 Canadian plus 7% tax ($306) = aprox $4700 Canadian

vs in the Canadian boutique it would be $4600 CND + 14% tax = $5244 Canadian.

Definitely better to grab it next time I'm in the US!! Which is in April. Hmmmmm..... REALLY have to save up completely!!!!!

But maybe worth grabbing it now before another increase and while the CND dollar is so high?

I having something that may or may not be what I am expecting. If it doesn't work out, then I am going before the next price increase.
@labrilliant: yea i am really not pleased but gold has gone up 30% so i guess they gotta make MORE money. boo.

WG is $4700, RG & YG are $4300. Crazy! I was quoted $2600 for the YG in the Cayman Islands back in 2006. I wasn't serious about buying then so I didn't negotiate, I am sure I could have gotten it for less that $2600. With taxes, that's a $2100 increase in less than 5 years - you can buy a decent 2nd hand car with that!

So glad I got mine 10 years ago. It was a gift from my husband and I know he did not pay 4,200.00. He paid a lot less and I remember only a few people had them and they were not as popular as they are today.
