did you have any jewellery that you wore when you were younger and you look back and think omg...what was I thinking!?

I'm 28 (birthday is today! :D) and I can already think back and laugh at some of my choices!

Happy birthday, candice! :smile1:

I used to wear a lot of wg & silver toned jewellery. But i prefer yg now.

I also used to buy lots of dainty, almost invisible jewellery. But now, while i still like dainty feminine styles, i kinda prefer my pieces to be a bit more visible & substantial

I've always preferred silver coloured metals (ss, WG, PT.etc) to YG and simpler designs rather than big statement pieces (which I will occasionally sport if the outfit calls for it!).

However, I do believe there are plenty of 90s inspired pieces like those surfer beads, shells, woven friendship bracelets, cord necklaces.etc in a box somewhere!

I was always obsessed with silver Tiffany jewelry, and of course the friendship bracelets and what not. When I was a teen I wanted the Tiffany chain tag necklace, thank god my mother didnt buy one for me! Otherwise I just wore gold jewelry my family gave me but I always preferred the silver. I also always chose the non popular parts of Tiffany, like the Fred gehry torque and oval locket and Greek Olympian charms. As well as the whole nature motif. However I'm actually not opposed to my old taste at all, it's just become grander lol. Now I only prefer gold jewelry and I prefer classic pieces with a vintage vibe still. I'm Also starting to be more open to jewelry from a jeweler instead of just Tiffany's and unfortunately for my wallet I have branched out into cartier and vca. On the flip side I'm enamored by evil eye, zodiac and arrow type jewelry as well so I try to meld them all into one. So my taste didnt really change, it just became much more expensive!

I use to love yellow gold. As a teenager I wore Disney character rings and initial rings. In my late teens and early 20s thick gold chains and add-a-bead necklaces were all the rage. My beads were huge. Of course, I still have it all sitting in my closet. Perhaps one day my children will wear them and I wouldn't be surprised to see them become popular again. Now, I'm into to sterling silver and white gold. I've developed a Tiffany habit but the pieces are classic and will never go out of style.

In my late teens and early-mid twenties I used to wear costume jewellery, then in my late twenties I started to wear solid silver pieces - non-designer though as this was still before I became seriously interested in jewellery.

I only really started to buy and wear fine jewellery when I got engaged when I was 30, as DH gave me a YG and diamond e-ring and I didn't like combining it with costume pieces or white metals. I bought my first pairs of diamond and pearl studs at this point, fell in love with YG gold and after joining TPF started to become more interested in designer pieces from brands such as Tiffany and, more recently, Cartier.

My style tends towards delicate pieces in gold, mainly YG although I have started to like WG and RG more recently too (WG only combined with diamonds though as I find it a bit industrial looking on its own). I love designers such as Tiffany and Cartier but also buy from independent jewellers and am getting increasingly interested in more custom-made designs.
