How long of a stall is too long before trying to checkout again? I waited maybe 30 seconds (felt like an eternity!) and started over but by then I wasn’t able to get beyond the terms & conditions. Now I wish I had waited longer.

I’d say let it either go through or crash on its own.
I think typically for me, if it goes through right away as in let’s be double tap to check out, sometimes I don’t actually check out with the item. But sometimes I do get the purchase.
It all depends, but I would suggest if you’re already at the page where Apple Pay displays your address, don’t exit and just wait and if you get it, it’s meant to be yours (even if you end up returning it).

You may want to take some time to read through the Post Web Hermes finds thread. There is a wealth of knowledge here and many have asked and answered similar questions throughout the thread. The short answer is yes, they come up for sale at completely random dates and times.
