During the past 3-4 years, I've been using Bare Escenutals foundation for a couple of reasons: it's good for my breakout-prone skin type, it's relatively inexpensive, and it feels non-oily and light.

However, I was wondering if anyone uses one of the brands that are simlilar copies of Bare Escentuals.

I have never used them because I don't know if the price drop is any indicator of a drop in quality.

Could any one recomend a replacement brand of BE that is basically the same, but just a little cheaper??

thanks a lot~!

I love Everyday Minerals (everydayminerals.com). You can get a free sample kit with $3 shipping. Love it. I wouldn't call it a "BE faker" because my skin likes it better and there are 4 formulas to choose from (matte, semi-matte, intensive, original glow) and better color selection... and less chemical. BE ingredient list scares me.

I've used BE and Everyday Minerals. I would say EDM is slightly better even if it's cheaper. You can order free samples online until you find your match.

I don't actually use either of those though

I use Meow Cosmetics and I love it. You can order sample from their website or email them your pics and they could tell you which one to get.

Everyday Minerals- I used BE and hated it. I only use EM for finishing powder, shadows, blush and gloss b/c I found a really great liquid that I love. They have special offers too on their site for discounts and freebies every two weeks or so as well.

Yep, I'm gonna agree with everyone on this, I love Everyday minerals. They have way more color selection so that I could actually find a color to match me. BE doesn't even make a color light enough for me. I also love the free sample kits, I've been sending them to my mom so she can find her perfect foundation as well, and she says so far she really loves Everyday Mineral's consistency over BE.

I JUST bought the Bare Minerals starter kit today. I think I'll leave it unwrapped until I receive my Meow Cosmetics samples (ordered 'em tonight!) so I can see how how well Meow works.

i bought a kit a week and a half ago. for $34 i got a 2 full size foundations(original glo and then if i want full coverage i have the intensive one :p), 1 full size concealer, a eye shadow trio(loveeeeeeeeeee its so smooth and going to last a long time!), a finishing powder/primer(its start to finish.. so i am guess its both :p), and the brush for the foundation and the finishing powder(love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think this my HG brush, seriously!).. and i got a sample of a blush.. their blush samples will last for a long time. a tiny bit goes a long way :) i just started using after rave reviews on here. For $3.13 or something like that you can get the sample kit. you are paying for the shipping, but you get to try out 3 foundations, a concealer, and a blush :)

Wow, I may have to try EDM when my MMU runs out!! I keep hearing about it on other forums as well.

I'm currently using MMU from Cory Cosmetics. It's the first MMU I've tried and since I never had a reaction to it (even with hormonal acne a few years back) I never bothered to switch. Ladies on other forums seem to have mixed reviews but for me the coverage was perfect, not heavy, and I found my foundation match while ordering my first batch of samples. Samples are 35 cents! The mica free formula is what I use as I've heard women have had reactions to it in other MMUs. Blushes are very pigmented and last a long time. I've heard rave reviews on their eye shadows too but never tried.

I would order samples from different companies to see what suits you best. There are so many great and cheap alternatives to BE and like another poster mentioned, their ingredient list is quite extensive and scary!

Love EM too. WAY more than I liked BM. BM made me break out and gave me a rash. I am allergic to the bismuth.

Everyday Minerals all the way!!! I used BE for 7 years, until it broke my face out with the Bismuth Oxychloride ingredient. (I had no idea why it took 7 years for a reaction though. :shrugs:) But I converted to EM and I loved it. I especially love the affordable prices and brushes. Seriously, EM has the softest brushes in the entire world! (I ended up going back to liquid foundation after a few months of EM. Nothing wrong with EM. I'm just an uncoordinated klutz and kept spilling mineral powder all over my bathroom countertop. But EM is wonderful!)

I recommend the flat top brush from EM as well. It's THE best brush to buff minerals on your skin. I used to use BE brushes but they were far inferior... coarse and sparse... and traps dirt like crazy.

Wow thanks~!

The Everyday Minerals sound great- I'm definately going to try out their sample kit.

I use BE's "Fairly Light", so...I think I might go with the ligher shades from the "golden" line. Hm...I guess I'll gamble on a few colors and see if they work!
