Heidi pays for everything out of her own pocket, she is trying to work her way up the celebrity fashion icon ladder, but sadly a Chanel bag (regardless of how beautiful) cannot be expected to work wonders and cover up the tackiness that is Heidi and Spencer.
chanel do give stuff away, in the oc, marissa is seen wearing lots. Its been reported that chanel gave them a big butload of chanel bags.
Honestly, even for being payed well, Spencer and Heidi better be careful with their money. It can fizzle away in an instant. Her collection of bags and shows is amazing in price and the show is said to stop airing after this season. There may be something for the two of them, but after that, they may wind up being reality star has-beens. And that money, well, it better not be overly invested in cars, houses, and wardrobes, or it will be gone in the blink of an eye.
They might not give it away, but they certainly lend stuff to celebrities when they're attending public events. It is priceless publicity for them
Spencer and Heidi seem to fit the six seconds of fame reality tv mould, earning ridiculous amounts of money and spending it just as fast. If they had a clue about finances they could both be set for life right now!! Hermes and Chanel won't keep you warm at night when MTV drops The Hills for the next big thing. Well, I guess it will if they auction it all off 
I saw an episode of the hills awhile back when Lauren and Heidi were still friends. They were at a salon getting their hair done and I believe it was Heidi's birthday. Anyway Lauren pulled out a big black Chanel box and inside was a lovely big black chanel bag for Heidi. So that's how she got at least one of the chanel bags she carries.
but they gave it to the show's art and costume department, not the actors
right, and they probably had to return it
They make a good amount of money from The Hills, I know they were on one of Forbes list this year. They made over $1mil.
Yeah - I saw that. I know Lauren's family is loaded, so she can definitely afford to give those out. I don't know about Heidi's. And I believe Spencer bought her second Chanel bag for her next birthday.
