How do you prevent losing your e-ring?

I rarely take mine off unless I am doing something with dangerous chemicals. Shower water and soap won't hurt precious metals and stones! So aside from not taking it off and always putting it in the same place if I do have to take it off, having it properly sized and maintained is crucial. You don't want it to be able to slip off accidentally and you don't want to lose a stone because it was loose. But rings are generally much stronger than we give them credit for. Everyday activities will not hurt them; they do not need to be removed for most things.

it's sized correctly (actually it's a bit snug right now...too many cookies) and i never ever take it off unless i'm cleaning it. i actually never change any of my jewelry for this exact reason. like OP's friend said.....you can't lose it if it's on your person.

Keeping with the no. 1 tip so far (make sure its sized correctly) is there such a thing as between sizes? I think I'm in between a 4 and 4.5...

Yes, I actually got my set resized 2 days ago.. I went from a 6.25 to a 5... but decided on 5.5 because I didn't want my fingers looking like sausage fingers..

I always have mine on...at the gym, when I sleep, in the shower if my finger is too swollen to get it off, lol. The only time I take it off is when it is in the US getting a bath.

I take mine off at work and at home, but never anywhere else. At work and at home I take it off if I wash my hands, apply lotion, and shower. But really never anywhere else. I got used to having it pretty quickly and I now feel really really strange without it.

I definitely agree with a proper fit too. I think to get it resized took all of an hour at my jewelers because they were so busy that day, so worth giving it up for that short amount of time!

There are totally more sizes than just your basic whole numbers and the half numbers. I think mine right now is a 5.75 even though I think it is too large and need to get it taken down again. Your jeweler should be able to make it any size you want. Mine cut it, did a sort of "rough" cut on the ring, like it wasn't all polished, let me feel the size if I liked it, adjusted it and made it the exact size I needed even though it wasn't one of their official sizes with their sizing tool thing.

I'm curious what you ladies do (if anything) to prevent losing your rings. A good friend of mine advised me to "never take the ring off... ever." She wears it to do everything from showering, dishes to sleeping. Her theory is that as long as she never takes it off, she'll never have to remember to put it back on.

Any other ideas?

You are right dear these rings are always a problem for us.Who will remember the hundred things that where to take it out and where not. When should we remove it, where to keep it??? LOL all these questions use to disturb me.Actually I generally prefer to wear rings a bit tight fitting so there would be less chances of spilling it out.Better try this this will help you I think.

I think the best advice aside from making sure it is sized properly is to always safely put your rings someplace if you must take them off. Whether it's a pouch, pants pocket, or jewelry box it is best to never just leave them 'out someplace'. I learned this the hard way. On the way back from out of town, DH and I stopped on the interstate for brunch. About 2.5 hours & 60 miles later I looked down in my lap at my hands and literally FREAKED out! At that moment, I had remembered taking my rings off to apply lotion before we stopped and had my diamond rings on my lap the whole time...when I got out of the car the fell on the ground!! DH pulled over and when I realized where they were we immediately turned around and drove back the 60 miles to Cracker Barrel. The entire drive back was silent and awful. When we finally got back DH spotted the rings right away on the ground literally glistening in the sun! I couldn't believe it- not one person found them (on a busy Sunday afternoon!!). I don't even like to think about it. Luckily, I got them back and had them checked out and polished. Good as new!

Wow--that is so lucky!!

I carry one of those little travel pouches for jewelry--it has a flap and a zipper and is the size of a small coin purse--for when I am in the OR. I don't wear rings, but I always worry about a necklace breaking or an earring falling off.

i bought a really nice white gold chain to wear around my neck so whenever i take off my class ring ( i know not a e-ring, but also $$ )I put it on the necklace and i will not loose it. I ALWAYS play with my rings and feel the need to take them off, so keeping it always on my body prevents me from loosing it.

Don't have an e-ring, but I'm a sculptor, so I constantly have to take off my rings/watches/bracelets when I'm in the studio (clay + watch = ruined!). I do this: The second I walk through the studio door, I take off all my jewelry and put it in my coat pocket and zip it closed. This goes right next to my bag. When I'm done for the day, I can feel everything in my pocket, so I just throw it back on. I don't sleep with my jewelry on, so I put it beside my bed, and then throw it on in the morning.

I am just anal retentive, I guess. I keep mine in my safe or on my finger. Not just the e-ring but anything relatively pricey stays in a safe. I cannot stand to not know where my 'prized' pieces are. I open the safe every morning and every night, if not more.
