I would suggest that if paying for such a thing as a luxury handbag requires any sort of significant advance planning, perhaps it ought not to be done.

There are 20 threads just on TPF on saving for a Birkin/other Hermes bag (i.e., advance planning of the financial kind). One can well speculate that planning is common, not exceptional.
