How do you justify choosing nylon over leather?

Just a thought…here’s what can help getting over it to purchase nylon. Age. Neck arthritis, shoulder pain, back issues, etc. lightweight and ease of use is your friend. Most of my friends over 50 prefer lightweight (which could be leather in some cases of course). Particularly traveling or shopping, wearing a lightweight nylon can be a pleasure. The bags that I own which are heavier in weight, sit on shelf more often.

I used to have a Prada nylon backpack which i recently sold and now I have a cute nylon tessuto gaufré in black which is honestly adorable and I easily justify it because it is way less expensive when bought second hands ! And I tend to buy second hands a lot partly because I love the older quality to basically every brand !
I think Prada nylon is very robust, does not stain, if it does you can wash it, it is hard to scratch and you do not have to worry much about it in everyday life.

I'd love to get a vintage Prada tote bag later. However, I would never justify the price of the 2000 re-edition bag which I think is crazy expensive for such a small bag.

Gorgeous bag! I've never seen it in nylon, only leather. I absolutely love it.

I don't have this prejudice against non-leather bags since I love my Stella McCartney Falabellas, Issey Miyake Bao Bao, Longchamp etc.. They withstand wear and tear better than leather. I also don't have to worry about the weather. Depending on how you are going to use the bag, non-leather might be a better more durable option.

Not a messenger, but a bucket! I absolutely love my nylon bag. I can carry it fuss-free in whatever elements, toss it around, stow away under a seat, you name it, and it's still looking as good as the day it came home with me 3 years ago. So I'd say in my case, nylon is 100% worth it.
How much can the bucket hold? Post pics please

It holds a decent amount of items. I can fit either a small or full-sized wallet in it, sunglasses in case, keys, a small cosmetic pouch, a mask, hand sanitizer, lip balm and cinch the bag easily. A mini sized water bottle could be added on top of all these items comfortably as well.

I have the nylon Prada reedition 2005 and one of my dream bags has alway been the Prada nylon backpack. But I find myself always thinking, for the price of Prada nylon, I can get a leather bag from other brands.

How do I get over this mentality?
Just get a good nylon Prada bag and you’ll get over it right after. I’m using my Prada re edition nylon for like 3 years already, no sign of time, looks so good, no scratch, no stains, I absolutely love this bag. Prada nylon bag is not like any other nylon bag, their material are really something.

Now that I’ve had my backpack for a few months I can say it’s the only bag I don’t worry about in the rain, it is easy to keep clean, it holds a bunch of stuff and it’s the one backpack I don’t mind taking into a nice restaurant. Plus the attachment that came with it has been very useful.

Hello Prada nylon fans! I finally bought my messenger bag from Harrods a couple of days ago. I'm so pleased that this forum encouraged me to get over the non-leather concern - Thank you!! At long last, I have a CHIC bag that I can freely use everywhere, stuff my things in... without having to fuss over it or stress over the weather

I now have purchased 4 Prada nylon bags - 1 pre pandemic and now 3 post pandemic - and they really have been the bags I reach out the most - I love with my OCD that any tiny mark or stain I can easily remove or wipe off and looks brand new and I think they are such a better price point versus the leather for obvious reasons. They are work horses and easy to pack and travel with and quite low maintenance - can take quite a beating.
