Updating this thread, as lots of us(myself included) are updating our closets for fall.

I know some have bought more than me (@880 , @papertiger , @Swanky ).

So far I’ve added 3 dark navy sweaters, Joseph oversized sweater, Joseph gabardine trousers and gabardine leggings.

Planning Momotaro jeans, possible shirts .

I have cleared out some pieces to make space for the new ones, as does @lill_canele ..

My Mum is critically ill, putting a damper on things, but I still have days out planned in September and October, praying that she stays as stable as possible, but it’s hard to really plan anything in stone..

It would be healthy for you to treat yourself well during such a difficult time for your mom. For basics, I used to wear DHs John Smedley merino wool knits. At that time, I preferred oversized basics. Not sure if JS women’s might have anything to offer you in petite sizes, but it might be worth a look. One of my favorite shirts of all time is an older one by Zara. It’s more Prada than Prada lol.

I have been wearing John Smedleys for literally 40 years!

I discovered them in Burlington Arcade when I was 16- they did/do make ladies’ knitwear as well in very fine merino wool as well as Sea Island cotton, the men’s’ drowned me, but I Did wear the ladies’ merino wool.

Zara I actually don’t really shop in-I bought the sweaters when I was with my 25 year old girlfriend , I have hardly Anything from there.

My current shirts are bespoke from Roomten of Savile Row, and Chanel, either I’ll wear them this winter and replace them next winter with good ones, or I’ll buy something like Joseph or Reiss in U.K. 4.
The Roomten ones are pale blue and go well with the dark navy sweaters (they’re double cuff).
I’m not really petite although I’m small, as I have incredibly long arms!

In September I have my South Sea pearl bracelet to pay quite a lot towards, and a day out shopping, so don’t worry ❤️, I Will be treating myself.

Luckily my Mum has stayed stable during September , although bedridden -an attempt is being made next week to try to get her up…I’m truly hope it succeeds, as a few weeks ago it looked like the end.

I Did manage my day out with my girlfriend but didn’t find rtw(although she bought clothes).

I cleared out more summer pieces which I will refresh and probably upgrade next year.

The the new additions are

Asceno black linen v neck tops-3.
I wear these a lot of the year, so don’t mind spending on them, with base layers underneath them in cooler weather.

Non designer were a Zara gabardine waistcoat and a Zara gabardine skort, both black, the skort will match with my Alexander McQueen blazer-both look better than they are.

Fingers crossed I get my trip to Harrods next month, my last major shopping day this year.I’ve got a Very long list!

In the meantime I’ve been watching Fashion Month and planning next years purchases!

I’ve been buying designer items for decades. Mostly I get something classy and elegant or something distinctive from a certain designer. I do have bags, shoes, accessories and clothes from even 20 years ago, still in good quality. Like I have several Dolce&Gabbana dresses 15-18 years old and they’re still considered fashionable or elegant. I have Prada and Gucci boots and shoes I bought in 2008 and Louboutins I got in 2010. And off course I started buying bags from Chanel and Hermes back in 2005. They never go out of style.
My oldest Max Mara coat is from 2011 and it’s still in new condition.

I do have some Zara and HM clothes but only if it’s 100% cotton or silk.

I started wearing Chanel at 16, and in my 20’s most of my clothes were Valentino and Chanel, with Claude Montana for leather, but I think I’m older than you, as I think clothes DO date.

I bought my first Chanel bag at 19(in 1987), it was lambskin and I don’t have it anymore, nor the other 2 I bought -the black patent one I bought in Old Bond Street wore out(the leather peeled off the trim to reveal neon green plastic , I was horrified, Chanel offered to repair it, but I couldn’t believe that a Chanel bag was made of plastic).

My dresses and suits would still have looked good, but the silk blouses would have looked dated.

My lifestyle is far more casual now, and the designer clothes I DO buy are McQueen , Saint Laurent, Valentino etc now, and bespoke clothing but most days I wear good quality separates with bespoke biker jackets (depending on the weather of course).

I have my mom’s old bag from Chanel, I think 1990+? Not sure. And she has her Dior shoes from 1970+ 😆
Some classic styles stay stylish forever.
But yeah I still buy clothes, too often. I wish I bought less and invested more 😆

If we didn’t keep shopping, designers would stop designing , there would be no fashion, life would be so boring!

And the economy would collapse if everybody stopped shopping..

During October I just added a Skims sweater (this was because I bought a Joseph one which arrived damaged which I had to return)- but this I’ll probably just keep for one season.

Also a merino snowtip shearling coat, which is lovely and cosy and warm, it’s not cold enough for that yet, but I couldn’t resist.

My Mum is now out of bed, but tragedy struck at the end of the month and my sister’s father in law suddenly passed away.
So in November I have a funeral to attend -I’ll either wear my Alexander McQueen suit or my Versace suit.

I still have lists of things to buy, but having seen next summer’s collections am already thinking next season as well!

In my 20’s most of my wardrobe was Chanel, now when I’m not in bespoke or designer clothing, I’m in Skins.

I’ve just done an order of 15 pieces, I MAY buy more this year, but there are other brands of clothing with pieces I like, I’m running out of closet space(I have 3 double closets and a large chest of drawers).

I usually have a clear out on New Years Eve, and another at the end of the winter, but I don’t think there’s anything I’ll want to donate at the end of 2024, although I will have a clear out at the end of winter.

I go out with my closest girlfriend 3 times a week, plus browsing online, and days out, and make lists after browsing the international collections, she buys far more than me quantity wise, but I spend more.
