I think 0.1 is too small for a necklace. i have a 0.2 blue diamond ring and it's pretty small on my hand.. it would be barely visible on your neck. if you are looking for a good size dainty necklace i like the dior oui line. that's small but visible and dainty.
I bought it to wear with another diamond pendant and wanted the diamond small and dainty but i was pleasantly surprised at the size!! Mine is a bezel set diamond (the roberto one looks like it too) and it makes it look bigger than it actually is.
If you are looking for a statement piece, or something to make people go WOW - this isnt it, but if (like me) you were looking for an understated piece with a bit of sparkle this would be perfect for you!! My diamond is about half the size and it still is perfect for what i wanted! i love it and it is uber classy!!!
Keep in mind that .10 is a tenth of a carat. It's small, but not microscopic. I think some of you are confusing it with .01, or a single cut or extremely small full cut stone of the type often used in pave work. I have a diamonds by the yard necklace with .05 stones (half the size of the Roberto Coin) and it's very dainty and pretty. The diamonds provide sparkle on the chain but obviously, they are not mean to shout "diamonds"!
It's small, but it's not a chip. As a .10, it's 3mm, and one on a 4.25 finger looks like a .30 diamond when it's pretty well cut. Remember, it's a .10 not a .01 or a .001. It's sweet, dainty, yet you can still see it from a distance. It's just not flashy. Not at all.
They have similar sized diamonds on a chain at Overstock.com for under $100. The specs aren't too bad at O either but you would have to see it in person. We bought one for a high school graduation present. I thought it was very pretty decent first diamond for a teenager. Delicate and bright.
^^Yeah I think you're paying more for the brand name than the jewelry. Obviously most of us DO care about that sort of thing or we wouldn't be on this forum, right?, but I think in this case you could certainly get the exact same look for a lot less money and be quite justified in doing so.
i just found this thread and was looking at the exact same roberto coin necklace for my mom for her birthday. she wants something simple and casual, so the size of the stone is actually perfect. i have looked at blue nile (nothing similar enough) and overstock (bad reviews on the quality of the stone and chain) but haven't found something similar enough to this one. does anyone have any other suggestions for a simple necklace without paying for the name of the designer? thanks!
fyi..a lot of jewelry pictures are taken using a loop (the 10x magnification loop they use to look at stones). it makes it hard to get a feel for size.
