How actually hard is the “Kelly” to get?

Of course, I’ve seen all the hype around the new Kelly bag, and understand that it often goes to VVIP clients and/or that there’s a wishlist. I saw it in the window the other day and totally fell in love with it (and stupidly got my hopes up since it was on display).
I texted me SA at my home store yesterday to ask about getting on the waitlist for the bag and haven’t heard back, even though she’s usually quick to answer.
Is it absolutely unrealistic for a regular customer to get their hands on one? I would love any and all information that TPFers have on obtaining this bag, or trying to obtain it!

Don't shoot the messenger but since no one else has responded...I think it's probably unrealistic for this season if you haven't been offered one already. At my home store it was very much a VVIP/pregistered list-only product and the bags never even hit the sales floor. :hrmm:

The smaller clutch on chain might be slightly easier to get but just be forewarned that they really don't fit much more than a (Chanel) lipstick and a credit card!

(I should add that my home store is in the US)

Paris is the only place I saw them on display at the start of the collection launch and when I commented about how many they had (which I was surprised about) they said they are ‘display only’ and will be sold only to those who the manager agreed to. Same rule for classic flaps. Even then I didn’t see black on display - only the two pinks and blue and more stock of the tiny size.
I purchased mine from my home boutique and they were all pre-reserved ahead of launch. Incidentally a black one became available last week (which had been on hold for an existing client for some time and released) but even then the pictures were being shared very covertly in person and being offered to established clients only.

I would say if you are not a regular client buying a lot of rtw or with a high spend overall across categories then the chance is slim at this point. Even for those clients - if all the bags have been delivered or if there will be more deliveries - I am sure the list of the people wanting it will exceed the number of pieces available. The problem with this bag is two things…
First of all ridiculous hype…
and second of all … IMO is actually a very very good bag. Well constructed and proportioned and it looks beautiful in person more than pictures can ever demonstrate. I was 100% sure I didn’t want one until I saw one in real life and that’s what swayed me.

Edited to say I’m referring to the small one not the ridiculous child sized SLG

This is just my opinion of course, so take it with a grain of salt.

I am VIP at Chanel and I was offered the Kelly and rejected it on site. Anyways, I went back for alterations a week or so later. To my surprise, my SA has saved it for me even after I rejected it and brought it back into the change room and said just in case I changed my mind because she couldn’t believe I said no to the most in demand piece. So I tried it on again, and I rejected it again.

It’s really nothing special. It feels light weight and cheap dare I say:facepalm:.. not made at the classic flaps level of quality.

Although I love Chanel, I prefer a small size lady Dior to the Kelly. The demand is created from the social media hype in my opinion, the bag it self is nothing special what-so-ever.

There were some that were on the floor on launch day, but was first come first served, my SA said all sold out within 30min of opening. My home store is in the US.

Chances are probably slim at this point for this seasons though, but given its popularity, Chanel will probably repeat it in the coming seasons.

It’s being repeated for 24P - but in tweed

I very very rarely buy seasonal bags as I’m very stuck in my ways. I generally only wear classics with the exception of deauvilles for the beach. This is the first seasonal bag I’ve worn regularly because it fits a surprising amount and it’s very versatile. Once I decided to carry it for the first time - I completely fell in love. In my opinion it doesn’t look cheap or poorly made - it’s just a different kind of bag. I can’t wait for more colours.

A tweed Kelly sounds like a dream! Do you happen to know what color tweed? Or have photos?

bringing this post back up— same question, are these still very hard to find?

I am in the process of planning a trip to Paris and dream of buying this bag there. Want to set realistic expectations for myself.

HM I think if any variation is OK, it might work. My boutique in Europe had a fabric one on display to sell. I think if you have a specific color in mind, it might be harder. I think the green was very popular. I got the dark red denim one, they had it shipped for me, but I also bought the matching jacket so that might help. I think it is a really great bag, fits your phone, the option of handheld and crossbody. I hope you find something. I also thought the new doctor bag was very innovative.

I think it's only the Black Ghw that's really hard and it's on interest list basis. Having said that, I've never seen any other colors in the leather variation so far and we only have 2 Chanel independent stores.

I worked with 2 SAs from each store; 1 SA is more senior and already has so many established clients - when I casually asked for it, she flatly told me that it's REALLY difficult as she still has a long list of clients waiting for it and have missed the previous 2 seasons. Whilst the other SA (whom I sense more junior but I have more purchase records with) only told me that she just included me into the interest list and likely have to wait for 2 more seasons for my turn.

I am not into trendy bags but let's see if the call is going to be ever materialised. During my last visit, my (more junior) SA showed me 2 of them made in fabric/denim which I politely declined given fabric/denim is harder to maintain.

I have been told that 24A will definitely be the last season that nanos will be offered
I think the timing is good because it’s on the verge of over saturation after the last collection
