House was robbed, my entire bag collection is gone

Thank you everyone for your support and kind words.

It has been a year an a half now since this happened and I am just now ready to shop and replace my bags as before this I was too depressed to even think of buying expensive bags again. I literally would skip and unfollow accounts on insta because it was too painful to see bags lol. The thieves were never caught and insurance was such a pain to deal with, it felt like I kept getting retraumatized every time I had to speak with the insurance agent on updates.

I had to provide pictures of me wearing the items as well as receipts. They took everything of value they could find so it was not just my purses it was also shoes, jewelry, and cash. Luckily I keep everything but there were some items that I had for so long that I did not have the receipt for. I called the stores and boutiques I purchased from and I was able to get most of the receipts except for a few. During this process, I learned that credit card companies only keep records for 7 years and that most stores like NM and Chanel have changed their point of sale systems many times and there is no record of the older purchases so make sure to document everything on your computer just in case you ever need records. Seek out additional insurance coverage for items not covered by your home insurance, in my case my jewelry and cash had very low coverage that might as well be non existent. The world is a scary place and CA especially is insane right now.

Do any of you have any trusted resell/secondhand websites you have good experience with? I have been looking at Amore Tokyo and Fashionphile for Hermes and Chanel. I have gotten one bag in the past from Fashionphile and had a good experience. I am going to avoid The Real Real as I have seen a lot of comments online about their items not being authentic. Would appreciate any other sellers so I can compare prices and items.
I’m so sorry you experienced this! Thank you for sharing your insight. I’m glad you’re finally in a place where you can have some closure and begin thinking about replacing your collection.

I love Amore Tokyo — have bought from them multiple times (Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and a rare Omega watch) — and I wouldn’t hesitate to do so again. Highly recommend and trust them.

I’ve also bought multiple bags from Fashionphile and have always had a great experience with them personally, although that may not be the case for everyone. But as far as resale sites go, I trust them far more than The Real Real and others, and they also allow you to make returns, unlike some preloved purveyors.

Good luck and have fun! 💙

Thank you for the suggestions! Is the Janes you mention JaneFinds? I see there is a good selection on that site but I have never heard of it so not sure about authenticity.

yes I am in Cali, LA to be exact. I have been checking the different sites to browse. I hadn't heard of Luxe Du Jour but they have some pieces I am interested in.
You can actually go to Luxe Du Jour in Irvine to see items in person, if it happens to be at the Irvine location but you must make an appointment. You can't even get in without an appt. They have doors closed and you have to talk thur the monitor at the suite. They are located inside a high rise building. I can send you the number of the lady I worked with if you're interested in knowing more on the items you're interested in. She can send you additional photos.

Amore Tokyo has sooo many goodies, I want them all! I am definitely going to purchase some bags from them! How did you have to pay for customs? Do they let you pay online or do you have to go into the store for the shipping company in person to pay?

Thank you for all of the resources, I haven't heard of a lot of them, will check them out!

How did you feel about the processing fee they charge? I was literally ready to purchase a bag last night, I entered all of my info and as soon as I put in my CC info, I noticed the total price jumped by a lot. I was not aware that they charge a 3.5% processing fee until I saw the additional fee and read their FAQs. The only way to not get charged a processing fee is if you use Zelle or bank transfer which makes me nervous. Every business pays to use systems in order to accept credit cards but that cost is usually taken on by the business, not the customer.

I find myself to be in a dilemma now. I love the bag and I want it however this business practice makes me not want to give this company my business. It is an exotic skin bag so I will be paying a pretty penny and ultimately 3.5% of that is not that much compared to how much I will be spending on the bag but it is not about the amount it is about the principle of passing this cost on to the customer that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I purchased once before and paid by charge card and as

Oh right! I forgot about their processing fee! Yes i don't like it either. When I purchased I used my card and the item was only $400 so my process fee was $14.50. I didn't like it but I paid it because I wanted the item and at $400 the price wasn't bad. I went in person to pick up the item so I didn't have to pay for shipping as they charge to ship too. I do not like the fees but will pay it if the overall cost is not too bad. I never want to OVERPAY. I will send you a private message with contact info. Maybe you can work to negotiate the price some. I'm not sure if they will, but its worth trying.

the processing fee for the item I want is over $600, almost $700!! That is so wild to me. I have never been charged a payment processing fee before for bags but I also have not bought second hand that many times, twice from Fashionphile yearssss ago. I was looking at Sotheby's and they clearly state on all of their listings that there will be additional fees, I like that transparency. I wish this company did that too because while they do state it in the FAQ, it should also be in every listing so we know to factor that cost into the overall price when looking.
