^ bad design or confused expectations? Seems a bit off the cuff to label the design bad when it turns out the OP doesn’t like the effect of round-toed shoes.

Your legs are hot! And those shoes are definitely not sexy. If you can't pull those off, then no one can. Therefore--bad design.

Different people suit different things, it's not just about the physical either, there's also personality, wardrobe and lifestyle to consider. Sometimes a person wants something new, cool and exciting to update her/his wardrobe but it's also hard to gage if it's very different to what's used to.
My partner would prefer if I wore my Dolce and Gabbana corset dresses and typical 'barely-there' heels every hour, every day, but my personality is more than just about looking sexy or 'hot' for him. My DH understands I value his advice but at the end of the day (even the start of the day) I decide what I like to wear and he obviously loves that part of me too.
OP hasn't come back to us so maybe she just wanted to show us and has made up their mind.
Of course I agree that style is a myriad of factors playing off of one another as well as a combination of personal dictations but one thing that most people forget is that sometimes the reaction to "does it look good" simply comes down to what is the gut reflex when presented with a style object.
If you take the average person and show them a pair of heels purchased from Target with no label and a "risky" or "avant garde" design, they might immediately say, "ew--no thanks." Then show them the same pair of heels with a Louis Vuitton logo slapped on and suddenly they might reply with "wow, cool--fashion forward. I'll take them."
Basically, it's the long way of saying, I love the general design direction of Gucci but I don't believe in following fashion/labels blindly. Sometimes they don't know best and my gut reaction when I saw those shoes was simply-- "Not sexy."
So I bought the Gucci marmont pearl GG in smooth leather, tall heel. They were sold out everywhere then BAM! They appear on Farfetch in my size, 1 left!!
I ordered them having never seen them in person before.
So they arrived today and my husband thinks I look like a stumpy pilgrim (his words not mine) but honestly, I think I may agree with him!!!
I think sometimes fashion gives us "fashion goggles" (like beer goggles).
I need opinions. Are these ugly?

Honestly if worn the right way with like boyfriend jeans and a classic white button down and some jewels it could probably look very chic, ya know?So I bought the Gucci marmont pearl GG in smooth leather, tall heel.
