Hi everyone,

I have a milestone birthday coming up and would love some advice from this community. You’re all a wealth of knowledge so thank you in advance!

I received a YG classic love bracelet engraved with my daughters name and birthdate three years ago for my first Mothers Day. I haven’t taken it off since and my favorite thing about the piece is that I can wear it 24/7 and I don’t have to remove it/worry. I have since purchased other pieces that I’ve been less satisfied with… a single motif GMOP vintage Alhambra pendant, the small JUC, a vintage Pasquale Bruni multi gemstone flower bracelet, etc. I’ve struggled for different reasons with these various pieces. The first being pearl is sensitive and now I hardly ever gravitate toward it as I’m afraid I will damage the stone. The second being the small JUC which I initially loved and stacked with the classic love…I never removed it and after six months it literally snapped in half. It got tangled in my hair when I was asleep in the middle of the night and I unknowingly yanked it out and broke it. Cartier fixed it but it feels like it soured the piece a bit for me and now I want a more substantial and carefree piece. The Pasquale Bruni bracelet needs to be brought in to a jeweler, it’s an estate piece but the prongs get caught on literally everything and wearing it isn’t an enjoyable experience. Anyway, all of this is to say that I’m looking for a piece that won’t get caught on everything, will not bend out of shape or force me to bring it in for repairs less than a year in, etc. but is still a classic piece. I don’t regret any of my jewelry purchases but I do admit that I wish I put that money toward a more substantial and less fussy piece. I love both the classic and small love bracelet but I want to find something different and I’m personally not a fan of stacking multiple loves together.

I am HARD on everything. I have a very casual lifestyle and rarely dress up/go to formal events. I’m trying to find a piece that works with my lifestyle. I’m constantly wrangling my three year old, and will have a newborn again in the summer. I don’t have energy to take jewelry on and off.
I like some of the Tiffany pieces I’ve tried on recently (lock, hardwear) but think it would be more wise to purchase a classic/timeless piece of jewelry instead. Any thoughts?

Options:

1) Regular JUC in YG. I like the design, but just not sure if it’s a piece that people sleep with, travel with, wear 24/7. Is it comfortable? does it get caught on everything? Will it poke my newborn or get bent out of shape if my daughter jumps on me?

2) Clash in RG. Same concerns as above.

3) Ecrou in YG. I actually really like the industrial design and the fact that it’s less recognizable as Cartier, and I also heard that it may be discontinued in the future. Does anyone wear their Ecrou 24/7? Thoughts on this piece for the price point? It seems edgy but I don’t know about “high end”? It seems to be a very polarizing piece but I like it.

4) Chaumet bee my love - wouldn’t be able to try it on before purchasing it and also concerned about the scratching. Is it similar to the love bracelet in that way? Do people just accept the wear and tear/scratches or is it not wise to stack it? (In which case I doubt it would work as a 24/7 piece for me).

5) Boucheron bangle in YG (un quatre clou de Paris) - same as above but Saks still carries the model although I’m not sure (?) if it’s been/being discontinued. I don’t see it on a lot of other sites (including Boucheron’s own website) but it looks like a substantial/hardy piece and definitely fits my personal style.

My needs/preferences may change as I get older, but I want to wear and enjoy my jewelry now. It makes me feel good on a daily basis. Some very wise advice that I read on here (buy pieces that fit the lifestyle you have, not the lifestyle you want/wish you had) and that really resonated with me.

Thoughts everyone?

I like the Ecrou, but it seems like there are hard edges on a lot of your choices that might snag?
Perhaps not your style, but Bulgari is easy to get on and off, flexible, comfy, and pretty durable.
I wouldn’t sleep in it, but it takes one second to pop on. . . I wear mine every day with everything from
shorts to a cocktail dress.

I’d also recommend something without moving parts like

Thank you! I have to admit, I like the Serpenti line but I don’t love it more than other pieces mentioned.

I’m specifically looking for a piece that won’t snag, which is why I’ve been oscillating for awhile back and fourth.
I’m wondering (as far as Cartier goes) does that narrow it down to the love collection and does everything else snag?

I will take a look at Belperron!

Unfortunately most jewelry really shouldn’t be worn all the time, especially to bed. Though I know many do. Thats one of the nice benefits of the Love bracelets, they’re designed to be worn continuously. Like you, I wanted some variety in my stack that I could wear without removing so I added a Roberto Coin Love in Verona bangle (with diamond motifs….which could pose a problem I guess bc they’re prong set). Of those on your list the Bee bracelet seems like a good choice for continuous wear.

I understand your feelings! I'm after the regular JUC next, but do plan to take it off every night...I wouldn't risk sleeping with it too often, but I know some do and say it holds up just fine.

After the JUC I think I'm going for another love. I have the plain YG regular. I just love the love. It's gorgeous, comfortable and so easy. I haven't decided which one is next (well, truly I'd love the thin yg pave, and I know I'll own it, but that might be a little farther down the road), and I'm enjoying the process of not knowing which is next and looking at stacks and seeing how my tastes change.

Would you consider another love? Maybe get another love to compliment the one you have :happydance:

I understand what you mean. I am also naturally very rough with things and that is why the love bracelet is so perfect. I ended up getting additional loves for my second and third bracelet. They just work for me. I love the sound they make together and they stack perfectly. I would suggest another love for you.

I can only tell you from my own personal experience that the JUC regular size could hold up well…I’ve been wearing mine 24/7 for the past 7 years or so - travel, to the gym, chasing my daughter (who is now 15!), hiking, Pilates, whatever - and it’s been fine. I am like you - pretty casual and I don’t baby my jewelry and since COVID I’ve worked from home and I find it goes with everything and is super comfortable to wear. I change out my Love for different things every so often but I always wear my JUC because my mom gave it to me. I think if you’re considering it for your stack, it should hold up well. If you’re still looking, Dinh Van has a few options also you might like! Finally, if you’re willing to go vintage, the Cartier Menotte bracelet (without stones) is also a super option to consider - I love mine!

I find the Clash to be the most comfortable bracelet I own and I have worn many different bracelets. The points are flexible and rounded so they do not dig in, and do not get caught in anything. Equally comfortable are the Perlee options from VCA, but might not match your aesthetic. I love the JUC, but the small gets caught in my sheets at night and the regular digs into my skin at the nailhead (there is room, but it will rest higher up on my arm where it can dig). I never really liked the small Love, but I added one in a unique combo and it is so comfortable also! The regular Love is too sharp on the edges for me to wear without noticing it, though I have worn them for years at a time in stretches. I do have very sensitive skin, so if it works for me, most likely it will work for you. I also have 3 very young kids, so I understand the need for something rugged that can get wet and easily cleaned.

This is good advice. Thank you.
You understand then… I’m in the midst of potty training right now, every time I turn around there’s a mess and I just don’t have time to baby my jewelry or remove it. I don’t want it to cause additional stress or “own” me, I just want to enjoy it.

I think the clash is pretty comfortable from having tried it on several times, but I do not own one. The JUC in classic size will be way sturdier than the small one. That notwithstanding, the end can get caught on fabrics, etc, as it is a little pointy. Have you considered a YG tennis bracelet?
