I'm really disappointed that there hasn't been a tiered sale for Fourth of July and now Labor Day. There have tiered sales for the stores every major holiday for a couple years until now.... it was the time I knew I could always spend a little more. :woot:

Does anyone know if TB is taking out the tiered sales altogether? Maybe just slowing them down to a few a year? It's tough because many of the major department stores exclude TB from their sales as well. What gives?

Pretty sure this is their new(ish) strategy to discourage folks from holding out for sales. It seems they are trying to train shoppers to seek discounted merchandise from outlets only. I'm fairly certain there will be another "private" sale by month's end.

There's been a sale almost every month, either seasonal, private or F&F. The tiered sales still take place at the outlets during the holidays you mentioned. My local outlet has had a tiered sale for over a week now. I think they're trying to avoid going down the Coach route because people hold out for those sales and don't want to pay full price. It's like Kate Spade (love the brand, definitely not bashing) where the outlets have what's known as their "usual promo" by some of us who frequent the store often which consists of 50% off followed by another 20% off. As a consumer, I don't feel like KSNY bags are worth anywhere near their MSRP because they're always on sale (I bought 3 bags for under $275 last week, I don't know how to link to my reveal thread though). If I wanted to spend more I seek out a premium designer brands.

TL;DR - Frequent sales hurt the brands image, which impacts profits. Sales for current customers strengthens brand loyalty.

I haven't seen any of the general sales where you could by current season items... I have seen the private sales/regular sale items/etc but haven't seen the general (usually tiered) sales that also applied to new and current season items. I think the last one was in April/May if I remember correctly.

I agree, it's clear TB's trying to control their product and pricing. I hate to admit it but I totally understand. I just really appreciate having that sale where I also didn't feel so guilty picking up a few extra items. ;)

got two pairs of millers-taupe and chocolate 40 % off this weekend at a local boutique. LOVE THEM AND THEY HAVE A CROCO MEDALLION AND REST OF SANDAL IS LEATHER-LUV THEM!!

The sales really make it easier to purchase more without feeling too badly about it! I bought a robinson crossbody and it was cheaper for me to pick up a card case and makeup bag, bringing my pre-tax total to over $300 so I could take advantage of the tiered sale.

Their sales strategies are what separates them from other contemporary designers and why they aren't everywhere.

If you're looking for sales on regular priced items, there's a sale for F&F this month for 30% off, my SA contacted me a couple weeks ago and it ends Sept 30th!

Hi! Can you tell me is this F&F from TB directly or is it for Nordstrom, etc? Thank you!

TB, although I think the SA's have limited promos to give out. I got one although my friend didn't.

Ok, thank you. I like TB but it isn't a brand I buy unless 1) I REALLY love the bag and 2) there is a good coupon code. I only have one (a backpack), so I guess that will have to do for awhile. We do have an outlet close by but the sales are really hit or miss.

I ended up contacting TB direct and they said there are no special events/F&F currently - so that's strange - anyway thank you for replying.

It may have to do with being a regular customer or having an SA offer you the F&F. There is a post about it in the promotions thread I believe regarding the discount and as I mentioned my SA contacted me to let me know that she could offer me 30% off during this period (Aug 24th to Sept 30th). I'm really sorry it didn't work out for you although I feel it has something to do with building that rapport. I've worked in the designer/luxury retail field and we had similar protocols.

I was also hopeful for a tiered sale for Labor Day. Almost no one was in the local TB store at the mall on Labor Day compared to the days where there are additional discounts. I have the opportunity to buy locally at Neiman's or online at Saks and they regularly have sales or $ back promotions. Bloomingdales also seems to be back to including TB on their online sales again. Nordstrom is preferable to TB boutiques since I get Notes back from them if I pay full price...

I get not wanting to diminish the brand but the markup is so high, they are still making lots even on sales.

If there had been something I really wanted at the store, I would have asked about the 30% off for friends and family.
