HoF vs Tiffany

I have another random question and it might sound weird, but would jewelry stores like Cartier and Tiffany sell just the setting without the diamond. Cause I'm so in love with the diamond from the local jeweler here but I am in love with the settings that those stores have (and theres nothing quite similar in other stores).

ok one more question ^__^ sorry... hah I'm just really new to all this and I don't know anyone else I could ask about diamonds. So if I wanted to make a true comparison between an HoF diamond and another diamond, what should I ask for from the jeweler. I have done more research and people say that it is comparable to Super Ideal cut...? When I asked the jeweler about that he seemed a lil confused.. so what is the technical term for it? I also read that if I ask for an AGS000 or something like that it will be something comparable?

As long as you get an ideal cut stone (and there are definitions to that in terms of proportion, percentages etc.), it will be beautiful. It does not have to be a HoF or Tiffany, you will be paying a premium there. If it doubt, go for a AGS certified Ideal stone. If you really must choose between HoF or Tiffany, then HoF, at least it is guaranteed an ideal cut diamond. Much to the surprise of many, not all Tiffany round diamonds are ideal cut diamonds. They are not badly cut, but they may not be ideal cut.

HOF cuts beautiful diamonds. See what I mean...

Rising Sun, they could use this picture for their advertising campaign its so perfect!!!!

no Tiffany's will not sell a setting nor will they set your stone.
Go to any jeweler that carries HoF and ask them to see 2 loose stones - one HoF and one comparable excellent cut and compare them. They have a neat little tool for you too see the hearts & arrows in the HoF . . . but it your EYES that really matter, no one carries a nifty tool around, LOL!

Thank you, Littlesharon:heart: I cannot tell you how many photos I took before I got this one! It's not easy to photograph jewelry. I can't get a fire shot to save my life. I see the fire coming off the diamond, but I can't get my camera to capture it:sad:

Is it true that HOF diamonds with same specs will cost exact same wherever it is purchased? For instance I saw a 1.31 for $20,000 and a 1.67 (I think) for around $26,000. If they have same specs, do prices remain exact too? Anyone purchase or receive a HOF diamond recently?

The prices of HOF diamonds are the same, regardless of vendor. I checked before we bought mine.

Do those prices sound about right? Do you know the approximate cost of a 1.5 carat HOF round solitare? Or a range?

Those prices could be in line, depending upon the color and clarity of the diamonds. Were these prices quoted from the HOF database or from the vendor's stock? You can call any HOF vendor and ask about diamonds in their database.

It was vendor's stock. There is a store in the mall that carries HoF so I actually saw both of them. Do you and others see a very big difference between HoF and other well-cut stones? I know this topic has often been discussed but you have 1st-hand experience.

I do see a difference in the HOF compared to other well cut stones. I have owned a Whiteflash A Cut Above diamond and that was certainly comparable. Although I haven't seen the Crafted By Infinity or some of the Good Old Gold H&A diamonds, they have wonderful reputations. As you know, HOF comes with a hefty price tag. You can certainly find a gorgeous diamond online, if you go with a reputable vendor. Brian Gavin Diamonds is another online vendor I would recommend. He created the WF ACA and has now opened his own business with his signature cut.

I like having the services of a local jeweler. I've done several upgrades and setting changes. I have my rings cleaned and polished on a regular basis. I receive discounts and gift cards on none HOF jewelry. In addition, I can trade in jewelry I no longer want/wear, even if I didn't buy it at my jeweler's store. It's a situation that works well for me. Let me know what you decide to do:smile1:

When I was looking at HOF diamonds, I had my local jeweler bring in an ideal cut stone of the same size so we can compare them side by side. Both stones were beautiful but my fiance and I both noticed that the HOF shined a bit more. I think the best way to really see if you can tell the difference and if that difference is worth paying for.
