Hmm? Did you regret trading in your original diamond for a bigger better one?

Some are sentimental and some aren't. It's entirely a personality thing that can't be helped one way. the fact that you are asking at all makes me think you are sentimental. If you weren't, you would already have traded without asking for input.
so I would suggest that you keep your original stone.

I traded husbands...so I went from a 2ct to a 3ct. Does that count?
Actually, I went from 3ct to 4.97ct studs and a 10ct to 14ct tennis bracelet and never looked back!

skyqueen - if I trade husbands, then heck, just trade in the diamond too. Get a new one to start everything new.

I'm not either, LOL! Not about stuff like this.
It's just material to me. . . . the symbolism isn't lost on me and changing a cold piece of carbon/stone doesn't change what DH and I felt and what we promised when he proposed or we exchanged vows.

My dh and I have switched wedding bands several times over the last two decades, our tastes changed with the times (from yellow to white gold to platinum).

I'd have no problem with trading my diamond but my dh is a bit sentimental on that issue, which is interesting because he's never looked at it once he put it on my finger. I did have it reset twice in new settings tho.
