High-Quality, Non-Designer Bags??

I am looking for a high quality handbag that is not a designer brand, or at least not a leading designer brand. A sleeper brand, heritage brand, could be OK.

I have Goyard and Prada and they are really just OK in terms of quality.

In general I prefer plain not flashy and no logos. And, I want the price to reflect the quality of materials and construction and not the markup for a brand and all the overhead it creates on the product pricing.

I’m going to recommend Fount bags. Their website is fountleather.com. I have 4 Fount bags (Buckle tote, 2 Bellfield totes and the Arlington) plus the Finley wallet. The leather is thick and beautiful. My oldest Fount bag is about 1 year old and looks like brand new. They are so high quality! I love that they are made right here in Cleveland Ohio. I have stopped buying any other brand but Fount.

I have six fount bags. You are right about the quality. My oldest (the Bellfield tote in hazelnut) is three years old and has just gotten better with age. My newest (the Arlington shoulder bag in peppercorn) is so unique and beautifully crafted. Made in the USA! #fountleather

I don't see much talk of Hammitt bags on the forums, but I own two and the leather is buttery soft. And both of mine came with an authenticity card that stated they were hand-stitched.

A good place to go is TJ Maxx and see. They see many really good quality leather pieces from brands I’ve never heard of.

Frye is good quality too.

I have a couple of vintage coach bags from the 1980s and 1990s. Fount has the vibe for sure! Their bucket bag is very Coach-like. With that said, I think the Fount leather is even better than my vintage Coach bags.

I definitely agree about the leather! I have vintage Coach bags and Fount leather is much thicker. We are bag twins because I also have the black bag with the brass hardware.
