GeminiS, i am not from Zurich, but i can tell you the shop at the airport doesnt carry birkin/kelly, but they have a nice variety of lindys, paris-bombays, bolides, GPs, some jewellery, scarfs etc...and in the city you can visit the H-store as well Pete/Mario's reseller shop for birkin...Have a great trip!

Soooo glad I found this thread! I will have a layover in Zurich in August on my way to Florence and will def. hit H. It might even be my first H purchase!! My layover is very short and I'm on Swiss Air, can I sprint there between plaines? Can I contact them ahead of time so something is waiting for me just to p/u if they have that I am looking for? First time out of US, so any help is terribly appreciated!! Thanks!

Just to let you know, I was told by Hermes corporate people that the airport Hermes stores are usually partner stores, not corporate ones, and these airport stores and not allowed to sell any type of Kellys or Birkins. But they usually have a great selection of other bags. I have found great Trim II ones at the VIE Hermes store. Lovely people there, very nice store. For me, I am looking forward to my 3 hour layover in Zurich airport since I will pick up some of the new scarves. Swiss Franc is about on par with the dollar.
safe travels to you

It depends where your plane is landing and your connecting flight is leaving. The H boutique is right at the main lounge. If both your flights are in Gate E (highly unlikely if one is the European connection though with Swiss) then there's no way. But if you move from Gate E to like Gate A, you should be able to pass the main lounge.

Prices at H in Zurich are much higher compared to the US due to the weak dollar. For example, a regular silk scarf will cost you 440 Swiss Francs (w/ tax back, that'll be around 415 Swiss Francs -- around 410 USD) while in the US, this only costs 355 USD without sales tax.

^^ Ball park figure from UBS actual currency exchange at the bank and my credit card bills from my recent trip to the US. But it shouldn't matter since the difference is so minimal. As you can see, I mentioned 415 CHF is around 410 USD. To me, that's almost at par!

Regardless, H is still more expensive here than in the US recently.

Thanks! I'll have to look at my itin. and see if it tells me gates. I forgot about the weak (THAT'S AN UNDERSTATEMENT) $$. I'm going to get hosed in Italy! Oh well - better than not going at all....:girlsigh:!

Update on Shopping at Zurich Airport Hermes,
just to let you know that this a great shop. Small, but great selection. Lots of Lindys, one is a beautifuly choclate skin. The SA was very helpful. She said that they could refund the VAT on the spot, it would take about 10 minutes. didnt have to go to customs to get the usual stamp. Went a great pharmacy with a green + on it and got some wonderful homopatehic Swiss toothpaste since the TSA's at Dulles threw away my Colgate, said it wa too large. Glad they did, 'cause the Swiss stuff is much better!
came back to Hermes and that transaction was all complete, tax refund done and scarves wrapped up in lovely orange boxes. You could have the sale in Swiss Francs on dollars, whatever is best for you. Very nice store, would travel through there again. Better than Frankfurt and Schipol, which has not free standing Hermes store.

you are welcome. Sorry everyone for all of the typos I am making but I can't stay awake and concentrate. I keep falling asleep, cant even keep my eyes open to put the keys on my BJ Carmen key ring. Jet Lag is really bad this trip. Must be due to the fact that I am an aging Boomer! Maybe I should go on Social Security before it is all gone and give up working with these freakin' lawyers.
