Thank you for posting this Lutz - I love this but there is absolutely NO reason why I should covet a saddle like this (or even a 'regular' leather) since I hardly ride any more since my horse was sold (a long time ago - it was not my idea :hysteric: ). I agree it is just simply beautiful - Hermes at their best.

Thanks everybody!! I wonder if they custom made the saddle?(accroding to the horse)
I would want to be able to use this saddle on different horses if possible but my first concern is if my boy will be comfortable.

they will custom make a saddle, but it's VERY expensive ~ and i don't know whether it's available in the US or just in france.

however the great thing about the current generation of hermes saddles is that traditional wool flocking is replaced with a latex that conforms to the shape of the horse's back. i had custom saddles for three horses which i was able to replace with a single hermes corlandus saddle that fit them all beautifully. there are some different horses in the barn now, but my one hermes saddle still fits every single equine.

since they are handmade there is certainly some variation from saddle to saddle, so if you're getting one for a specific horse you can send a withers tracing to hermes new york and they'll check the warehouse to pick the saddle best suited to its shape.

My DearUncle got this from FSH. It is for appreciation in his residence. :smile1:

How fabulous, Lutz. I don't dare show this to my "horsey" sister. When I took her to Hermes in June, she did admire the scarves and the bags, but I had a hard time tearing her away from a certain saddle she had her eye on!

This is truly an example of Hermes artistry at its very best. Thank you so much for posting the photos.

there are some amazing saddles pictured in the 'selle hermes' book ~ hermesgroupie shared some photos on this thread:

Good heavens, and I'm certainly not going to show her these either, dq. My brother-in-law will, no doubt, thank me for that too! I figure it ought to be worth at least a fine bottle of Italian red to keep my silence.

Thanks for posting the link - they are truly amazing.

Thanks a lot!! waiting for the pic:popcorn:

Lutz, that saddle is beyond gorgeous, but I can't imagine one could be expected to actually ride in it. It's much too slick to give any kind of purchase if your horse takes a funny step. Surely it was meant as a decorative object of beauty?

i think that's right ~ from what i've heard they're not built on a real tree. but i've never taken one apart to find out whether that's just a rumor, lol.
