Again, thanks, everyone for your input. I am caught between the shiny gold and the matte gold just because I have more purses with gold hardware. But, now that most of you also suggest the phw, I'm kind of considering that, too. Whew! I never thought it would be this difficult of a decision... over a buckle...hahaha...

I was told by the manager from the Texas boutique that the shiny gold does scratch easily but she also said that it is also very classic (which I prefer)...

All your thoughts are appreciated!

And your Texas boutique manager (perhaps Martha in Dallas?) has summed the subject very successfully, LV3J. The shiny gold buckle scratches almost from the first wearing, but has been a part of Hermes so much longer than the mat gold that it has become a staple in ladies' and gentlemen's wardrobes--a classic. Think of it as the metallic equivalent of worn Barenia leather on a great Hermes bag.

I have the shiny gold. A friend of mine has the matte. She will never get a matte buckle again,she has scratches on hers and they can't be buffed out.
They are far more noticeable on hers.

I have a number of scratches on mine and it looks way better.
