Has anyone ordered from a Hermes online shop in another country? I'm in USA and am interested in purchasing from Hermes France store (or even Canada, UK...) as prices are better and they have more stock of what I'm searching for. But, before I do that, a few specific questions if anyone has experience:
- Do you have to pay any import fees or taxes? I don't even know what VAT is but people talk about it a lot when speaking of international shopping
- Is it possible to return (obviously via shipping item back to original store) if purchased from another country?
- Is it possible to return to an actual Hermes boutique here in USA?
- Is there any reason to not buy from another country's Hermes online store?

Related: which USA boutiques have best prices and stock? Travel for work all the time so I can try to swing by a better stocked store than ours here (where our tax rate is also very high)

Thanks in advance!

As far as I know what you're trying is not possible. The online platform only ever lets me enter a delivery address in the same country.

Although you can buy and pay for things from an overseas Hermès website, the shipping address must be delivered within that same country. As such, none of your above queries are applicable.

What they said. Unless, you have a physical delivery address in those countries (i.e. France or Canada). I have heard of some online company that will take physical delivery of an item in your country of choice for a fee. But I have never used them. I know they take a fee, which ends up defeating the whole “better price” thing

Thanks - good to know.

I guess the only remaining thing is any ideas which boutiques have the largest inventory? I've heard Waikiki (very large?), Las Vegas (3 stores?), NYC (2 stores?)...
Inventory of which items? They all have varied inventory based on what the store manager feels their local clientele desires. The most important point is which store can you reliably get to somewhat often? The US stores don’t generally ship leather items so you’d have to purchase them in person, including all bags and typically all wallets and card cases etc. Exceptions to this can sometimes be made for loyal long-standing clients but I wouldn’t count on it.

Ah I didn't realize that. I'm looking for a Lindy 26... the closest store to me in San Francisco has only a couple and they don't seem to stock them much.

You can't really tell a particular boutique's inventory based on what you see on the shelves when you go in. Lots of things lurk downstairs and are brought up by the SAs as needed/wanted. Your best bet is to find an SA that you can work well with and get to know them and see what comes. If SF is an option for you, you might also consider Palo Alto.

I heard Waikiki store has good inventory and more accommodating to walk ins due to being a tourist spot. And lower tax rate . SF is my home store and I would think also has good stock since it has alot of tourists coming through, yet I haven’t really asked for a lindy from my SA. But I was there this Saturday and I saw a couple of ladies modeling Lindys in front of a mirror. Do you have an SA there already? She can order it for you and shipped to the store I think.
Also read good things about all Vegas stores. I personally shop at the Bellagio store. But I call ahead before I visit so my SA there can order it. But again, haven’t asked for a Lindy yet. Maybe call there and ask someone if they have it and can hold it for you. I found they have longer hold times compared to other boutiques, at least a week. The tax rate is just a little bit less too.
Good luck finding your dream bag!

Hi, as I am not based in the USA, I cant really advise much on physical stores.

However, from what I've seen on the USA Hermès website, they always have a decent stock of Lindys. I just ran a quick search, and they have a couple of them in a size 26. It may be worthwhile stalking the website daily to see if the color you want pops up.

Otherwise, I would advise calling these Hermès stores before you go visit them to make sure they have the color you want to save yourself a wasted trip.

Ahh good to know! I didn't realize there was so much back stock. Do you have a particular SA that you like in SF? I've met two who are both not great.

Good call - will start stalking the website!
