Not worth it, Hermes isn't known for RTW or suits to be specific, so you're just buying it for the brand..just my honest opinion.

However, if you've got extra money to spend then by all means!

i cant agree i mean H has made rtw since the 1920s and honestly the cut is wonderful my DH wears H and the materials are amaziiing !!!! just saying .... darling don't want to start any trouble but i just can not agree ........ if anything H is an expert at pret a porter and the concept of good fit from an available rack collection....they pioneered in the concept.

In my opinion, I don't think it's worth to pay that much for a blazer. That's just my opinion. Now, if you have money to blow off, why not. The construction and fabric are super nice though.

With clothing, I think looking great is all about the fit and your body. If you're fat and ugly, you can wear the most expensive thing and no one will even notice. On the flip side, if you're fit and good-looking, then you can make even H&M look nice.

Just my opinion.

Yes. And you can also buy cheap bags that look great. But just like cheap bags, cheap clothes do not age well. I'm generalizing, but great quality rarely comes cheap.

I agree, blazers don't need to be $3000, if it's that price then you're really paying for the brand. Also, I've tried on Hermes jackets and they just make me look old because the fit isn't slim and fitted..and the cutting is quite large. I rather spend my money on zegna or tom ford which will make me look a lot more sharp and sleek if you know what I mean.

Well, there are $1000 blazers out there that are AMAZING...and I don't consider it cheap..maybe im just poor?

But like I said, if money's not an issue then by all means go for it.

A $1000 blazer is not cheap, and I don't believe that anyone in this thread has stated as much. H&M was brought up as an example of a cheap product, and their prices are nowhere near this level. And their quality is also far from AMAZING.

:D

Well, I wasn't referring to your H&M comment anyway, I quoted your cheap bags comment. Just saying that blazers don't need to be 3K to be amazing.

And there you go, glad we have an agreement

Expensive bags like the Kelly and Birkin hold their value and are timeless. You cannot carry that over to clothes because of changing trends and styles. Some ladies in this forum still use their Kellys from the 1970s. However, I doubt any of them are still wearing their bell-bottoms from that era. In the span of 40 years, I'm sure their bodies have changed quite a bit as well.

If a piece of clothing will last or not depends on the style, that's absolutely right. If you want clothes that last, it's a good idea to buy classics or more experimental styles that won't be too easily dated since they were never overly trendy to begin with. A classic Chanel suit or a suit cut in the British 1930's style (think prince Edward) can still be worn today and look flawlessly elegant. Something quirky from Comme des Garçons might be worn today or 10 years from today.

It's also true that our body sizes may change over the years, just like our style needs, but you might want to replace clothes/accessories during the years even if they are excellent quality and fit your lifestyle.

I'm willing to pay extra for clothes of high quality that age well. I keep and wear them for years.
